lol you're second warm up set is heavier then my last set (after the arm up's) i'm very impressed with them, i know i keep mentioning them but i am that impressed
and yes what you posted in my journal was correct (on the hush though)

No worries bro, mum's the word

quote:

are we talking barbell or zbar for the curls? i'm assuming bb but wither way these are also impressive

Just a regular barbell, I don't own an EZ bar. I might get one at some point but since I don't get any pain in my wrists, it's fairly low on my list of priority purchases

quote:

have i previously asked the question about pulls/chins/lat pulldowns?

I don't believe so, what did you want to ask?

Yes, really getting used to them now. In fact after the work sets I set the bar up so I was side on to a mirror (there's a couple of large ones stored in the garage that we don't know what to do with). I got down in the start position ready to pull and had a look sideways and my back had a decent arch, as it should be (I didn't lift btw, I'd never try to pick up a heavy weight while looking sideways)

I did the same thing with the conventional stance to see the difference and the lower back was rounded a little bit. Now I always felt my form was good - but it can't have been, hence pranging my back that time

that's fai enough boss, i was only asking as the weights on a zbar are generally higher then a bb which means you're curls are quite impressive as well
which in turn is depressing me as im struggling to find a poor lift

ahh, basically are you finding good back development without them? do you not have access to them?
or are you too much of a beefcake muscle machine to pull yourself up due to the impressive lifts?

I have a chinning bar, one of those cheap ones from Argos) but I'm really crap at them - I mean, really, really crap - and I'm a bit too heavy for it at the moment. Don't want the door frame to break under the strain. Not all muscle by the way! Quite chubby at the moment

Back development seems to be ok without them, but that said I would do lat pulldowns if I had access to the equipment, as they look like they'd be more fun to do than chins

it wasnt a dig mate, i was just curious

i have only just got back to being able to do pulls myself anyway

a lot of it must be muscle with some of the weights you're easily throwing round

Lol don't worry, I didn't think you were having a dig mate

I'd be interested to find out how much mass I actually do have underneath, if I could be bothered to cut, that is I will eventually

72kg for military's not too hard. May start doing an extra warm-up set in future. 73kg next week

I am envious of the OH Pressing mate, pretty good. You seem to be getting all the reps out each session, do you use microweights and just add them on? Seems like a good idea.

1. Yes, it is very cold. Not as bad as last winter though. It was so bad then that I just took all the gear into the front room for a couple of months. My housemates weren't too pleased with that
2. Hmm, true. I need some bouncy Europop with chipmunk vocals to truly recreate that commercial gym atmosphere in the garage. Perhaps a bit of DJ Rankin?

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=0W-1JL6P1Ok

3. Next week I'll give 73kg a go. My housemate is doing some kind of media degree so I'll ask him if he can perhaps film it. Then stick it on youtube for anonymous 14 year old gobshites to comment things like 'omg thatz week, i can rep 300 at 140 lol'
4. Traps aren't too bad. I've got a picture somewhere that I took back in october before I started training again where you can see them. When I find it I'll post it up, as they look the same as they did then

Yes, I've got the following little plates:

4 x 0.5kg
6 x 1kg (2 of them are rusty!)
4 x 1.25kg
4 x 2kg
4 x 2.5kg

Most of the lifts I add 1kg per week

Some of them I add 2kg, eg squats, deadlifts

Sat 22nd March 2008

FRONT SQUAT

26kg x12
52kg x6
87kg x4

^warm-up

106kg x8
106kg x8
106kg x8

ROMANIAN DEADLIFT

106kg x8
106kg x8
106kg x8

*Hamstring stretches before each set of these*

STANDING CALF RAISES

116kg x25
116kg x25

Short but sweet session. Incredibly windy outside

106kg wasn't too bad. Second set of squats felt the easiest. During the third set it felt like the bar was sitting awkwardly on my shoulders so didn't enjoy it as much

Rest day tomorrow - I shall be indulging myself chocolate-wise

Today's tuneage: 'Vordhosbn' by Aphex Twin:

(Song doesn't start until about 1:40 btw)

Some good lifts there mate, in fact most of your warm ups are better than my actual lifts

Well done for getting back into it and keep up the good work

Holy sh*t those front squats are strong as hell mate!.

Best I ever managed was 5x5 (just!) back when I used to do them regularly.

Crossed arm grip at the moment

I used to be able to do them oly style but I didn't do any weights last summer so must have lost flexibility in my wrists
