Went for my swim lesson on Wed - we did backstroke which wasn't too bad actually. Drank most of the pool but did feel like I was travelling quickly through the water which felt good. Hi Puss I see you've got the Static Lunges going - well done - judging by your other weights I reckon you could comfortably up the weight on them - maybe try with a Barbell? Keep perservering with the Swimming - the technique will come soon enough, and it should be a good antidote to the heavy weights! Will keep an eye on your progress (if that's okay )... Sam

Thanks for your input Sam. Yeah I'd like to try with a BB but the gym I go to is quite small and was busy last night so I didn't get a look in with the BB. Maybe something to try at home. PiB

When you say 10kg for the static lunge is that total or 10kg dumbells in each hand? I do agree with Sam that you could possibly up this and I personally find using a BB helps immensely.

Hello Puss - another journal for me to read...phew! Well done for starting one - one of the best training aids I have at the moment! Agree that barbell easier than hand held dumb bells as the weight increases, anything over 12.5kg in each hand and I drop them on my toes - my grip is appalling and I find that the barbell is a god send!

Kitty - Yeah it was 10kg in each hand. I realise that a BB would be easier but I couldn't use a BB last night. Believe it or not there is only one at my gym and the Bicep Boys were using it like a tag team. I'll just have to toughen up a bit or wait until I can do tham at home. Feel it in my legs today I can tell ya. Chrissie - Nice of you to visit. I'm following your progress with interest can't wait to see the next pics! I'm really impressed how you've thrown yourself into this malarkey, your enthusiasm is quite infectious. PiB

Puss, keep at it - are you going to post some photos in your journal? Seems like a really stupid thing to do at first - but believe you me, the motivational push they give you is awesome! I also have my pics on my iPhone so whe I feel a bit down, tired or just plain bored of it all, I can flick through them and remember just why I am doing this! C
