What has a mistake cost you? From an error of your own (or on your behalf), be it in business, in your social or family life or in day to day living.

Not sure if this is the type of thing you mean, I am very careful not to make costly mistakes but I forgot to leave my car in gear one time and the handbrake did not hold it and it rolled downhill into a tree. It cost me about £1000 in various ways (replacement car/parts to fix/insurance changeover charges/time) I will never forget again though. Expensive lessons are lessons well learnt.

Not buying a house in Preston 7 years ago... Would have been very comfortable if i just bought it and didnt worry about the hassle.

Luckily I was going out atfer parking up for a short time and I quickly revved out of the space and watched as her car rolled downhill and hit another car. Did little damage from what I could tell and it was about 45 degree angle and rolled for about 20 feet. Dunno about your situation but I dunno how you can park up and not notice your car is still moving when you leave it

About £3,000 to the CSA. Apparently years ago I was meant to go around notifying a body I knew nothing about that I wasn`t working anymore and on benefits, thus they assessed me on an old income, their response was :- Them - `Tough, you still owe us the money`, Me` - `Why ? you can clearly check up and see I`m telling the truth`, Them - `No, why should we, you still owe us the money`, Me - `kiss my spotty white freckled ass`. Don`t get me wrong if I genuinely owed them the money I would have paid it back, I pay them quite willingly now but I`m not paying that and have refused to do so for the last 10 years or so, it`s now gone to a debt recovery agent.

god! where do I start ? Well the mistake I regret most is not going back to the army when I was on leave for my 18th, I got in a stolen car a lad had took and subsequently crashed, I was to scared to face the music at my regiment and stayed awol for a while so it blew my career. As a kid growing up joining the forces was all I ever wanted to do. so that was damn costly , though that was 20 years ago and things have turned out probably better than they would if I had been a career squaddie, wouldn't have met my wife , had my kids etc etc.... but in a way I will always regret not makng a go military life

Found my car had driven itself into a tree, handbrake still up. I did and still do suspect someone gave it a nudge, but the brakes were hot when i parked so that could explain it too, expanded when hot, means not so tight as they cool and contract.

A few regrets and costy errors. Nothing too serious though. Regrets: Taking philosophy which I hated (not a fan of essays) and never taking PE. Taking Maths for A level Not working as hard as I could in school for A levels. Recon if for the last year and a half I had put in more effort I would be looking at two A,A,B but im looking at A/B,B,C/D Costly errors: Lots of times where I could of acted differently and got out of being jacked for my bike/phone but then again that could of got me stabbed so maybe not as costly as it could of been. I don't think I have ever done anything really stupid as of yet..

Didnt lock my garage, had my £1200 alloys stolen and £250 Sub and amp speaker set up nicked. Luckily they left my £2500 DH mountain bike as that would of been the icing on the cake.

He went AWOL from the Army, handed himself in about a year later and then went again within a couple of weeks and didnt go back till he got caught out by the police about a year and a half after that. He was stopped speeding and when they did the check on him his outstanding warrant for being AWOL came up so they sent him off to MCTC. He only got a couple of months after remission and time served in custody awaiting court martial. The judge blamed the army as he'd joined up to something, was bulls*****d to by the recruitment guy who misled him that the unit he wanted to join wasnt recruiting and his best bet was to join his local Infantry Battn and that once he got to his battn, it'd take no time to transfer. Anyways he spent about 3 and half to 4 years trying to transfer and his unit mucked him about rotten at every turn so he did a bunk. Stupid but the judge said the army was loosing a good soldier by ..i think he said ..lack of foresight and lack of unit support. He doesnt regret getting out now though, he joined the legion in 06 and none of us have really heard from him since, though he has been home on leave once. He's based on Corsica. The most costly mistake i ever made?? Minor but...never having did college and university. I got excellent grades at school and it was my intention to go and study the phsycial sciences and nutrition but i never did. I joined the Royal Navy. Still theres still hope.

kicking someone while he was down. got caught on cctv. screwed me up for quite some time. i sometimes think whether i'm more annoyed i did it it or got caught, reason being the lad went to glass my mate and if he would have done my mate could at worst not be here today and at best have a scarred face. other than that, i stayed in 2 relationships for much longer than i should have, i regret that. financially i've made mistakes, but nothing i cant sort/havent sorted out.

I'm another, should have bought a house 5 years previous to when I did... I was waiting for the prices to stop climbing and they never did. Ended up having to buy a crock of sh!t and spending loads on it to get it right and it's still nowhere near finished where as all my mates who had bought earlier have bought and sold for profit.
