Ok then - here goes it!! I've been reading all the other journals - particularly those by the other ladies (nothing against chaps I promise!! lol) for inspiration, tips 'n' laughs too! I've been convinced by James to start this to get support from anyone who's willing to give it as I've started my prep with him (in secret - from hubby that is!) for a local show (Coventry) in June and hopefully the H.O.E. NPA. For the last 3 weeks or so now I've been 'going it alone' diet wise as I enlisted James' expertise last year, which unfortunately didn't happen - long story - and I've gone from 10st (eek!) to 9st 6lb, not bad and I'm feeling good as the song goes!!! (Still need to lose a whole lot though - not worry eh?! Say it quick enough, it won't hurt! he,he!) So my diet has been pretty much clean as per the plan that James did for me a year ago January and I've been doing weights 5 days and cardio every day (twice - whoops, a bit of a bull in a china shop, with no patience you might think - but I quite like it in a sadistic kinda way!!!) Anyway - onto the from now on part - for the next week at least: Diet should be: Black coffee: 6.00am Cardio 50mins 30g oats, 100ml s milk, 4 egg whites, 1/2 yolk, 2 x kiwi, green tea (I love brekkie!!) 7.00am Smoothie: (Which I also love) 1 apple, 20 oats, 1/2 tsp ground linseed, 30g protein powder & water (bit hard to get down otherwise I dare say!) 10.00am 80g chicken or alternative (fish choices as per plan), 20g brown basmati rice, loads of veg or salad. 1.00pm Smoothie: as above at 4.00pm 1/2 oatcake, sml banana, green tea: 30 mins preWO 5.00pm 1/2 oatcake immediately preWO (stops me getting the shakes!) 5.30 Weight training only - going to kill me not doing my beloved CV!! Post WO: 20g whey, 5g glutamine, 15g dextrose in water Final Meal: Same as lunch, maybe just different veg/protein choice Pre-bed: 20g casein in 100ml s milk Bed - I'm usually shattered by 10!! So there you have it - my starting point! Whether you believe it or not, I'm actually a bit shy and I daren't post progres shots yet (unless I'm wearing joggers and a t-shirt! lol!) I'm hoping that as the next few weeks pass I'll find some confidence from somewhere - can you buy it anyway? he,he! I'll keep you all posted - hopefully on a daily basis (providing the tinternet connection doesn't collapse on me again!! . Hope to hear from some of you soon - I promise I'll start and make appearances in your journals too - I've got to get brave! - wimp!!

Hi Nikkie, and welcome to journal land I am presuming you are the person that James told me he was helping out for the HofE comp last year as I did that one too. We have a great bunch of girlies on here and a few competing this year, some for the first time too so you're not alone and the support you will get should be great if previous years are anything to go by Good luck with your prep, shall help keep an eye on you

Well done to Nikkie, for ignorring the negatives and deciding to go ahead and get ready for the comp. Nikkie, it's quite clearly your dream to do this so you really must do this. You buzz with enthusiam, which I felt when we met last year! For sure I'll give you my best help and this Journal will help with your inspiration. I'm sure the other girls will help you - and likewise you them

S'me again! Just read about your hubbie not being supportive of you competing. That must be hard. How are you planning on getting round this? Are you hoping once he sees how good you look he'll soften? Has he got issues with maybe you 'showing' yourself in public?

Hi again Kitty, you're right, it is (or at least it's def going to be) hard, I'm planning on training hard (he's used to that) and just making out I'm dieting because I want to - don't know how well that's going to work though TBH!! He doesn't train at all, eats rubbish and basically doesn't understand really. He's already said (often) he doesn't find the really lean comp look attractive (I do so hey-ho!), he may change his mind as I start to change, but he didn't really like it last year when I got under 9st (I'm 5ft 6 so I guess that's pretty lean). And yes, on your last point, for sure he has a real thing about me 'prancing about in a bikini' as he puts it! That's why I've put my shoes etc in my room (I've got a separate room for my clothes!! Spoiled!) and haven't shown him or told him anything! I'm going to get struck down for being sneaky!

Hi Nikki! Good journal! Keep at it, if you wanted it badly enough, you will get there! And for the recrod, I love the first 'meal' of the day too! It's what keeps me going through morning cardio!!

My hubbie was negative when I started up again but it was more of a concern for me being upset if I didn't do well, maybe your hubbie has a hidden agenda too As for support, we're all here for you, I'm sure once your hubbie sees you on stage looking fantastic he'll come round. In the meantime, stay positive, train hard, eat well and enjoy

ORIGINAL: Nikkiejt Best get back to work now before I shoot off to said gym - can't believe James has asked me not to do any cardio on weights days, it's going to drive me mad not doing 45mins on my beloved xtrainer tonight! I'm sure it won't be for long - will try to make the most of it! Coz it's still early days. You're on low calorie, and you do not want to not repair the muscles post weights, which you're risking with cardio. if the fat is stubborn, we may introduce this later, but for now, muscle is the priority
