ORIGINAL: Nikkiejt Kitty, in reply to your last msg. Hubby said last year, quite adamantly that he wouldn't go along to any show, let alone the one I planned to be in. We spoke about it briefly earlier in the year before I decided to be sneaky and he absolutely will not go! If that's how he feels, I'd rather he didn't really, it's put me more on edge that I imagine I will be anyway!! Not to worry though, got about a dozen or so from the gym planning on being there - one the guys even said his Dad wanted to come along too!! Ouch that's harsh . At least you have other people who are going to be positive for you but it really does help a lot if nearest and dearest support you. All I can say is, when the going gets tough, come to MT and we'll all be here for you

Thanks Kitty - I know I'm going to be needing everyone that's available to get me through the end stages - his view is just something I have to accept that's all - simple! If, on the other hand I was in a golf tournament - my goodness would I see him there or what! LOL. Funny isn't it - I married a golfer!! Doesn't match up that well in the sports field really eh? he,he! There are going to be so many at the first show because it's literally about 5 miles from the gym that I'm a bit worried - toooooo much pressure for a first outting!! - it'll be fun though I reckon!

Hi again everyone! Got to say yet another thank to all of you that have wished me luck already - I'm quite touched!! lol. Ok then, I promised I'd post my training for yesterday and today (think there's a bit much - but I've made up a bit for no evening cardio!! Monday is usually legs day - gym is always really busy and the only equipment that's available is usually for legs so it's a winner!! 45 deg Leg Press 4 sets - 15 x 3, 12 reps x 40, 80, 120, 140kgs SLDL dbs 3 sets - 15, 12, 15 reps x 25, 27.5, 25 kgs Smith m/ch Squats 3 sets - 15, 14, 12 reps x 20, 30, 40kgs Lying leg curl 4 sets - 15, 12 x 3 reps x 25, 30, 35kgs x 2 Seated leg curl 4 sets - 20 x 3, 15 reps x 30, 35, 40kgs Donkey Calf m/ch 5 sets - 18, 15 x 3, 12-4-6 x 7, 8, 9, 10, 10-8-6 (Plates not kg!) Some of the weights might look weedy - they are! lol, squats - I usually have my feet further forward to hit my glutes from a different angle (tip I was given a while ago - any opinions welcome!), I use dumbbells for deadlifts - just prefer it usually (sometimes vary it with a bar and on a step) I also did loads of stretching much to some of the guys amusement - only 'cos none of them can reach their toes - well some can, just! Flexibility is really coming back too! Ok - today was back as I couldn't get onto a bench - lots of groups of guys in there tonight - just plain selfish!! lol Cycle, 6.10 - 7.00am x 50mins Seated row - 4 sets - 15, 12 x 3 reps x 5, 7, 8, 9 plates on m/ch Single arm row (I love these!) - 3 sets - 12 x 2, 10 reps x 25, 27.5, 30kgs Narrow grip lat pulldown to front - 3 sets - 8, 10, 12 reps x 45, 40, 35kgs Straight arm pulldown - 3 sets - 15 reps x 3 plates Missed my cardio, but did the narrow grip p'downs instead just to get a bit extra out (felt it too), normally go in the other order, few more reps and up to 50-55kg on the stack, couldn't do it in the order I trained today though! Diet wise - pretty easy really, the only snag was that I was about 10mins late for my evening meal and was getting 'the shakes', other than that, no problemo!!! Still smiling as my dinner is well and truly settled now! (Have I just written a novel?!) Sorry for going on a lot!

Well - as the tinternet is working at the minute (let's see how long it lasts!) I can fill you all in on the week so far - well, yesterday and today! Diet is going well - pretty easy to stick to really, bit hungry by lunch time and if I'm a minute late for my post WO meal I'm getting a wobble on! (mood and the shakes!), other than that - no problems to report!! AM cardio - 50mins on stat bike each morning. Trained chest yesterday and cv only as per James' instruction tonight. Chest & Abs Flat press (warm up set), 10kgs x 20 Incline press x 4. 12 x 12.5kg dbs 12 x 15 10 x 17.5 12 x 15 Incline flyes x 3 12 x 10kgs, 12 x 12.5, 12 x 15 Dumbbell pullovers x 3 12 x 17.5, 12 x 20, 12 x 22.5 (Could really feel a good stretch - lurvely feeling!) Cable cross-over x 3 12 x 2 (plates), 12 x 3, 12 x 2 Abs - hanging knee raises x 2 x 20 (slow movement at top and holding for 10secs after 10 and last rep) hope that makes sense - just hurts more!! M/ch crunch x 5 sets x 15-20 (depending on how much pain!), 3, 4, 3, 4, 3 plates 60 mins on stepper tonight Think that's about it for now! Had my friend take a couple more piccies earlier, haven't loaded them as yet and I still don't know how brave I am - might need to wait a wee while yet folks!! I'll probably get brave when I look better and post the before and after ones!! lol! Just kidding - I'll do it (eventually!).

Good going there Nikkie! Don't feel shy about posting pics, honestly they cannot be any worse than my cottage cheese backside ones from the first week!

Believe me Chrissie - cottage cheese looks flat and firm to me at the minute - I just wish my top and bottom halves matched up a bit more - I'm quietly comfortable with my upper half - it's the lower one that scares me!!! Still, I will post piccies, maybe not just yet though!! (Oh I'm such a wimp!), I've been told twice in the last 2 days that I worry too much - think they're right! lol. Right then, back to the training and diet info: Diet - as normal, brekkie: oats, egg whites, kiwi etc, meal2: smoothie, lunch: chicken and salad + 20g rice, meal4: see meal 2, PreWO banana + 1/2 oatcake, imm. preWO 1/2 oatcake, Post WO 20g whey, 5g glutamine, 15g dextrose, evening meal, heaps of veggies, 20g rice and 80g chicken - lurvely!!! Will have 20g casein with 100ml sk.milk just before bed! Training today: Cycle x 50 mins pre brekkie Tonight: shoulders, few abs (oh and I threw some calves in for a good measure!): Shoulder press x 4. Reps: 15, 12, 12, 12, 10. Dumbbells: 7.5, 10, 12.5, 15 x 2 kgs Lat Raise x 3. Reps: 12. Weight: 7.5, 10, 7.5 kgs Bent over lateral raises x 3. Reps: 15. Weight: 7.5kg Single arm cable lat raises x 4. Reps: 12, 10, 12, 10 Stack:1, 2, 1, 2 (always feel a wimp with only 1 or 2 plates - doesn't half do the job though!) M/ch crunch x 5. Reps: 20, 18, 20, 15, 20 Stack: 3, 4, 3, 4, 3 Hanging knee raises x 3. Reps: 20 x 2, 18 (Slow reps really, really hurt!!) Did some calves too as they need something of a shock to get them to show themselves!! Standing raises (m/ch): 3 sets x 15. Stack: 60, 67.5, 75kg (OUCH!!!) I'll have to wear heels to train tomorrow morning I can tell you!! lol Diet going well, a couple of friends said they can see changes already in my shoulders and waist looks tighter apparently. It's certainly changed in the last 3 weeks for sure - Yipee!!!! (Hops up and down clapping!!). Feeling good on the whole and glad work's over this week - someone have a drink for me - if I drank I'd have a large one tonight!!

Thanks for the comments on the workout - having to be really good not to hop onto the xtrainer though, I'm so used to doing post weights cardio, it's a strange feeling not to be soaked in sweat at the end of the day!! Glad I'm not the only one trying to match tops 'n' bottoms!! lol. Been into your journal, you're looking good now eh? Bet you feel so pleased with your efforts. What's your hubby make of your progress? Mine's miserable at the minute, I'm sure he'll snap out of it eventually (don't know if he's figured it out or something, but he seems right cheesed off with me?! oo-er!) I've eaten all my lovely food and he's just come into the living room with the chinese take-out menu and the fridge is full of milkybars and a pot of jelly beans are on the side too!!!! Talk about leaving temptation in someone's path, but I'm not interested, I just keep muttering about all the sugar rushes he must have during the day and the progress I'm gonna make! lol!!

Thanks for the kind words colin.d, means a lot to have so many of you saying such nice things! And you're right, I'm sure James is going to sort me out good and proper!! - I can't wait until the nearer the time when I'm realy starting to take shape, I'm really not sure how hubby will react though, he's said so often that he doesn't like lean, muscley (is that how you spell it?!) women - oh well, he'll just have to pretend I'm squidgey still!!lol As you can probably tell from the time, I'm up bright and early just waiting for my coffee to cool before I hop on my bike for 50mins! Have to train earlier weights wise today as the gym only stays open a few hours Sat and Sunday - keep telling the chap who owns it I could do with him opening earlier and staying there until at least 6 on a weekend - won't tell you what he says!!! lol , It's a no roughly translated!! Hope you're all going to have a great weekend whatever you're up to - I'll post my training later - arms today, might do a few lunges as my legs need all the help I can give them, particularly as I've got a rest day tomorrow - shock, horror - a rest day, got to distract myself tomorrow otherwise I'll get shot! (I promise James to only do a steady walk to my friends house, I won't march like I normally would!!) lol

Good luck with your goals Nikkiejt. I don't nor never will compete, but I recognise the effort involved in getting to the stage where one is ready to, and you therefore have my full respect for what you are doing. All the best. p.s. if your local to Cov, I ain't a million miles from you!

Hi Nikkie. I'm a bit further down the A5 = Daventry! So, what happens when you take a trophy home after the show? Perhaps the ole' man will come round then eh? p.s. By the way, Old Git is fine!
