Nikkie- Cardio first thing on a Saturday - you are certainly hooked babe!

My husband is rather chuffed at my commitment to be honest, he is a bit of the possesive type actually and I thought he would not be too happy at the thought of me parading my half naked bod on stage in front of a hall full of strangers however, he knows I would do it with or without his 'blessing'!

I am doing this for me, no body else, not to win (although that would be excellent!) certainly not for other men! i think he realises that standing in my way would be like standing in front of a steam roller (only a bit smaller I hope!)

Hope you can keep up the enthusiasm Nikkie, it is one of the things that will keep you going!!!!

Feel cheeky calling you Old Git!! lol

Mmm - Daventry is a bit far to go watch a stranger poopin' it!!lol

I hadn't even considered the possibility of winning anything, oo-er!! That could be tricky - mind you, I bet the guy whos gym I train at would keep it with the ones he and his sons have got in there (for powerlifting though) until I found a suitable hidy-hole!! I don't think hubby will come round, he just doesn't understand it at all and to save the stresses of last years attempt, all best kept quiet (even after the event) I think! . I even bought my own camera so that he wouldn't have to see my progress piccies, he'd probably go nuts, but I'll risk it once I've done the shows, I might show him some taken on the day when I'm (hopefully) looking A1!!!!

I feel awful being a sneaky thing - but needs must! I think I'll cope. he,he!!

Hiya Chrissie - yep I'm hooked!! lol. In a funny old way I enjoy mornin cardio, I wake up early anyway as the hairy kid (Jess the Lurcher) wants to go pee I don't have much choice either way!! I even do cv a few days in the week even when I'm not dieting - just not for so long normally!! Must be loopy!!

Good to hear your hubby's supportive and is pleased for you with the progress you've made, that must make it feel extra motivating and even more worth while than just getting the results for your own goals! I had trouble convincing mine last year about it not being for other men, but it wouldn't sink in - not even bothering with that conversation this time!! lol. And as for enthusiam - I'm full of it - can't wait to see how much I'm going to change, I just need to be patient and not too hard on myself if I'm having a squidgy day!! lol

I know one thing - I need to practice walking about in my shoes - I'm envious that you can trot round in yours, I might take mine to my Mums with me and practice theor a couple of hours tomorrow, I've only worn them for about a minute in my little room and quickly stuffed them back into my wardrobe!! It's like being a teenager all over again when you've bought an outfit your parents wouldn't approve of!! LMAO

Hi there - thanks Tan, feels good so far!!

Training today then:

50 mins cardio pre brekkie as normal!

Weights:

Seated dumbbell curls x 4 (1 for warm up). reps: 15, 12 x 3. weight: 7.5, 10, 12.5kg x 2
Lying tricep extension x 3. reps 12 x 2, 10. weight: 10, 12.5, 15kg + bar (not sure how much weight that adds - must check!)
Cable curls x 4. reps: 12 x 2, 10, 8. weight: 6,7,8 x 2 on stack (supposed to be in 10kgs - can't be right!!lol)
Single arm pushdowns x 4. reps: 12 x 3, 10. weight: 2, 3, 3, 2 on stack
Concentrated curl (dbs) x 3. reps: 12, 12, 10. weight: 12.5kg
Kickbacks x 3. reps: 12. weight 7.5kg
Pushdown m/ch x 3. reps: 12, 10 x 2. weight: 10, 15, 13 on stack - goodness what that's equivalent to!!?

By that stage, my arms were pooped!!! All pumped and dreading the drive home - thank goodness for power steering!!lol. I remember a car without it and a side street parallel park that used to be murder after doing arms!! lmao.

Diet is slightly round the other way today as I have to train in the mornings at the weekend, but the content is exactly the same!! Easy peasey!! lol. People already commenting in the gym this week on some of the changes - I hope this will increase as the weeks roll on! he,he!

Hope you're right NDB!! Thanks for the encouragement - hope to gain a bit more muscle in the time that James has restricted my cv too to help things get in shape a wee bit better!! Got everything crossed it's all going to be just FAB!!!! Just get really nervous when I think about comp day itself - said somewhere before I don't even wear shorts in the height of summer unless I'm at home - just plan on hiding behind that tan!! lol

God I hope you and NDB are right!! Chrissie I nearly burst out laughing reading your post! LMAO! Hubby keeps looking across wondering what on earth I'm sniggering at!!! Bloomin' right though I think!! As you mentioned boobs, I'm a bit worried - in my piccies so far they look huge - maybe that's just because I've got no idea what I look like in a kini top and have abit of a shock when I see the photies!? .

NDB - I've already bought a new training top and shorts ready for when I'm feeling exactly like you said!! Mind you - might be a bit short, but if I'm feeling like I do when I look at the changes so far in another 6-8 weeks - there may be no stopping me! Lord I've created a monster!!!!! lol

Good for you Nikkie, stay focussed and let James guide you through the nutrition side of things - he knows what he's doing! You'll be so pleased when you get to your goal you won't regret any of the sacrifices along the way. Writing your journal will serve as extra motivation. All the best.

Hi Biker - thanks for the encouragement!! I trust James and have every faith it's all going to be sooo worth it!! lol.

Just popped into your journal - you did so well!! You must be really proud of your efforts, they certainly paid off!! . Good luck with your prep for this year, I'm sure you won't need it though!

Got to admit, I was really quite nervous about starting a journal, but James persuaded me and now, after only a week I'm convinced it was the right thing for me as I can talk to you guys about training, diet, progress etc as otherwise I think I'd burst!!! lol

Mornn' folks!! . Back to training days again, yesterday was a bit strange, I felt like I hadn't earned my breakfast after no cardio , al I can say is, it was a good job I filled the majority of my day with visiting my Mum and a good friend!

Hey Chrissie! I even got to wear my shoes for half an hour or so - surprisingly comfortable, felt silly in my combats (tied at my knees!!lol) though, not at all glamourous!!lol.

My mum said ooo, they're nice, for something special?! I nearly cried with laughing - my response: Yes Mum, for the comp blah-de-blah, not for a night out (she thought I was going dancing with my friends) - I confirmed with, not unless we're taking a pole with us!! She's mad sometimes!

Right then - best get my bum on my bike for 60mins (got myself confused James, feel like I've diddled myself out of an hour in total last week - I read your email and could've sworn it said 50 mins, then yesterday I read the plan without skipping the cardio bit 'cos I thought I knew and I noticed it says 60mins , an hour down on what it should be - bum!!)

Training tonight, as it's Monday and the gym will be full of people feeling guilty for having at least 2 days off and lots of alcohol and take-aways, it's legs day!! That means tomorrow it's hobble about and shuffle day! LMAO!

Hope you all have a fab Monday at work or doing whatever you're doing!

Oh! Almost forgot - weight downon last week by a definate 1 lb (maybe 1 1/2, not digital scales though), measurements are all moving inthe right direction and I feel a wee bit tighter in general - so hooray!!

I'm a bit much this time of the morning I think . Training and diet update later if the internet will let me!

Right then - update!!

Have spoken with James today and it was decided to leave the diet as is for the time being - which is fine. It's been pretty easy to manage on the whole so there's a bonus!!

Made me laugh when he asked if I'd been rumbled by hubby yet!! - no, not yet!! Well, I don't think so anyway!! he, he!!

Training:

60 mins cardio < brekkie

Legs tonight!

Leg Press x 5. Reps: 18, 15 x 3, 12. Weight: 40, 80, 100, 120, 140kgs
SLDL x 3 Reps: 12. Weight: 25, 27.5 x 2 kgs
Lying leg curl x 3 Reps: 12. Weight: 30, 35 x 2 kgs
Seated leg curl x 3 Reps: 15 Weight: 40 x 2, 45 kgs
Squat x 4 Reps: 15 x 2 , 12, 11. Weight: 30, 40, 50 x 2 kgs
Leg extensions x 3 Reps: 15. Weight: 5 plates on stack
Donkey Calf Raises x 3 Reps: 15 Weight: 8, 9, 10 on stack (That hurt! )

Not bad overall, had to jiggle things around a bit as the gym was busy - Mondays!!

So that's it for today, quite pleased on the whole!!

Hi Kitty - thanks! It's not so bad when you can tell them what's been said though eh? lol. Still, I'm sure he doesn't take that much notice really!

Legs are tightening up already - going for a soak to take the edge of it, I'm hoping to avoid my shuffling little old lady routine tomorrow!
