I have no problem with him attempting any sport, as he has now served his ban. But he will be poor at rugby. OK so he is used to running fast. But on a wet field, in a pair of boots, whilst taking a pass?? How about under the high cross field kick currently in favour or making a tackle on Ade Gardner(since they're playing saints this week). I wish they'd leave the bloke alone so he didn't have to resort to this sort of thing.

ORIGINAL: Integra You need more than fast feet to get anywhere in professional rugby. Or practically any other team sport for that matter. He is built to run fast, he is not built to withstand the pressure of top class rugby. Not to mention the huge amount of aerobic training required. To train for this will take a very long time (non-assisted of course ). The ins and outs of the game - at the highest level - can not be taught fairly quickly and he will not have time for a season or two. He is 29 years old and will not be cheap. exactly and by the time hes done his aerobic ativity , took the beatings of learning to tackle etc he will probably be as quick as the existing wingers but without the experience , the game is just too quick and high level now for anyone to carry any passengers if they keep chambers as a sub10 seconds 100metre guy and keep his fitness levels down so that he can maintain that he would get mullered in defence and he wont have the technique to learn how to take tackles etc, high balls peppering him all day , 2nd rowers running wide at him all day , he would be made to look a mug Cant see him ever playing to be honest , think its more of a publicity stunt rather than a genuine attempt to get chambers as a serious first teamer , dont get me wrong would love to see him first reciever from a scrum to see what he could do or put through a gap but i just cant see it happening

Martin Offiah wasn't much bigger and did pretty well (although he could play great rugby). He is pretty old though to start playing...

Think he could be in for a harsh lesson to be honest.Like people are saying, its one thing running on a track but something completely different taking tackles and tackling others.Rugby League is punishing at the best of times without being a high profile character that I'm sure one or two lads will be looking forward to taking down a peg or two.Good luck to him though,he served his ban I wish him success.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/rugby/2008/03/29/drugby-league-89520-20366434/ Drugby F***** League. Stuff like this really pissed me off when the story broke. OK its only a newspaper headline but it still paints a negative picture. Ive got nothing against Dwain. He got caught and there willl be loads like him out there who havent been and arent hounded like he is but I dont like the publicity hes bringing to this great game. Quite a coincidence that the Super League franchise applications are announced tomorrow and Cas pull a stunt like this a few days before. Its needless publicity. How anybody can suggest he will even get a sniff of the first team is beyond me. He will never cut it. Its not a case of just catching the ball and ruuning over the line in a Forrect Gump Style. Hell have tho get the physical conditioning to do the full 80 and learn how to tackle, beat a man, take a bomb, position defensivly/attckingly catch and most importantly do all these things in a match situation when under pressure from oppositon players. Mentioning him in the same sentence as Martin Offiah is laughable. Offiah plyed Rugby Union for most of his life before debuting for Widnes RL in his early twenties around 1987/88. Chambers has no rugby experience. The only comparison is that they are both black and quick. I dont like the attention its bringing to the game. Its a stunt pure and simple by Cas and the rest of RL is laughing at them. I had much ammusement e-mailing cas fans at work and telling them they had signed Kauto Star for the other wing.

Good luck to him, i think a massive majority of athletes at his level use drugs. He was just unfortunate enough to be caught out. Wish they would leave him be if im honest.

can't see him well tbh... got the speed but a lot more than just catching the ball and running in a straight line! if he does get a game they will target him on the wing... shell him with high balls and attacks for the full 80 should be interesting though

I think it's disgusting that the guy has been forced to do this by the halfwit tossers running UK Athletics. You either ban someone for life for a first drugs offence or you don't. I would support a life ban, but given that that's not the rule atm, his treatment totally sucks. And that from someone who is totally anti drugs, but who hates people being made scapegoats as well. I hope he does really well in rugby league if it comes to it, but I don't think he will. The other thing that strikes me is that, given his high public profile and the 'no news is bad news' ethos that seems to permeate life today, how come a decent agent can't earn him a living wage. Kate Moss did worse, and made millions after doing so.

ORIGINAL: muscleman2008 good post knighty. One of our true track medal hopes at beijing being driven away. In the relay(he was crap for us before though n why risk a proven drug cheat with the other team members medals). If he was allowed to go, he would of done well to reach the final of the individual 100m, The Caribean countires and Americans are just that dominant in the sprints at the moment.

Some good points. Chambers is an excellent short distance athlete. Rubgy is a stop-start-stop-start sport, and that's different to both short and long distance running. VERY different. The metabolic precesses needed are different in order to use reserves for energy. Chambers is used to adrenalin being his dominant hormone, whereas (contorary to what people say) adrenalin will hinder him in rugby (he'll burn out as it's a short term hormone). However, he is a very fit, muscular chap - which will be an advantage and if he alters his training for as little as a few months, I'm sure he could adapt

i saw him pass a rugby ball on sky sports news.... haha made me laugh!! opposition will target him all day long... he only weighs 83kg, bigger wingers and centres will run over the top of him... they will bombard him wih kicks and the skill of running with a rugby ball is a lot different to sprinting 100m. publicity stunt at best

You cant just expect someone to step into such a complex game and walk straight into a pro side- utter nonsense! He wouldnt even make the academy side let alone the first team! It would take anyone, no matter how naturally talented you are at least 2-3 years just to be tactically astute IMO. A publicity stunt thats quite frankly embarrassing!!

i think if he can reproduce some of his skill into rugby it could be a good move for him. thing is though hes only really trained to run in straight lines on a track so god knows how hell take to it.

Cas are short on props at the minute so they get a winger in who has never played RL in his life? He will never adapt to the skills needed unless were going to give him years.
