hello ,i have been out of training for 9 months now, since i my disc slipped and its doing my head in.
Is it adviseable to train other body parts without straining lower back,while my name creeps up the physio list.any help and advice is much appreciated

Hi i have a slipped disc l5/s1 and a bulge in l3/l4. Had it since may last year. was quite a major injury. didnt train for around 5 months or so. I do train on and off but it does seem to aggravate the injury. No more deadlifts for me. I did start squating with dumbells last year but as i got heavier the pain in my leg and back increased.

Id say go see an ostepath or someone who deals with sports injuries. As the disk heals you will be able to train more and more over time. Listen to your body, if a certain exercise causes or aggravates the pain then stop. Start light. it all depends on how your disk has herniated also.

I dont dead lift as i said anymore. I can squat but only light with dumbells not a bar on my shoulders, but i havent done for a while. Some have advised using a trap bar for deads but i havent got one of them. I can still do seated shoulderpress but havent gotten too heavy yet. I can pretty much do most exercises, do some core work and light weights is fine and just build up id say.

my uncle has to, he dont lift heavey no more, he used to be quite big, lost alot of size now he just trains light high reps, and does cardio, more keeping fit
