I basicly ditched powerliftng and started loads of circuits - bodyweight / weights / bands / kettlebell all sorts of **** , HIIT

the weight fell off and although i did watch what i ate , i didnt go without.

soldier on mate !!

LOL ,jaffa cakes indeed , thats why i started the HIIT n stuff mate , coz i hate restricting food intake , so doing some high intensity stuff gets them calories burnin and the metabolism up , have you got any level of basic fitness ? its deffo an avenue to consider ,churning out weight training session can sometimes be a bit dull , veriety my friend !!

ill do you some bits n bobs

As Jdubya said, you can keep a high calorie intake as long as you do the work on the cardio to ensure you have a defecit.

Personally, I prefer to restrict my intake a bit.
The thought of having to do an extra hours cardio is what stops me from eating a pack of jaffa cakes

Anyway, where is your cardio mate?
