Hi guys , first post on here although i have been browsing the boards for a while. Bscially i have been training regulary for a few years now (minimum 3 times weekly) and although i would say i am pretty fit and look ok, i really want to start bulking this summer in preparation for rugby next season. I am 26 ,5ft 9'' and weigh just over 11.5 stone. i would be looking to get nearer 13 stone over the next 6 months but have one major problem i have and never have had much of an appetite, by this i mean i can easily go all day without eating. I feel physically sick if i try force myself to eat! A couple of things that may be affecting my appetite? i drink copious amounts of coffee anything up to 15 cups a day (with 2 teaspoons in each)! and i also smoke about 5 cigarettes a day! i have been told that smoking suppresess your appetite but would it to the extent that i can go up to 24 hours without eating anything at all?? Any help greatly appreciated

Simple fact is mate, it's gonna be hard to start with, but you will get used to it!! STOP with the coffee though, dude!! 15 cups, each with 2 sugars is sheer madness. Keep it to maybe 4 or 5 max imo!! Start off with regular small meals, then gradually increase the size. If you've been like this for a while then your stomach is going to need a good stretching, and eating more is the only way of doing this. To get to 13 stone in 6 months, you're going to have to eat a LOT! Good luck!

Hi and welcome to MT Funny isn't it how people are all different. I myself feel physically sick if I DON'T eat for a period of time. The thought of going all day and night without food fills me with horror! 5 cigarettes a day would not suppress your appetite enough to make you not want to eat for 24hrs. I am a bit suspicious about the amount of coffee though. Perhaps someone with more knowledge on that subject will comment shortly.....

I'm a smoker mate and on the odd occasions I "stop" for a week or 2 I find it makes no difference to my appetite.

ive doubled my food intake over the past 8 weeks and still smoke 10-15 a day im currently takeing champix to combat the evil weed but smokein is no excuse for not eating if u want to gain weight the trick is to gradualy increase the amount u consume daily and to have an excess of food with you at work everyday because as the weeks go by youll find yourself getting hungryer by the day and will be trying to eat more and more you also want to get a good quality weight gainer i use hypergain cos its 1200 cal a serving and 50g protien which i keep with me at work and drink a serving in the 2 hours between meals 1+2 and 3+4 its £30 fora 4.5kg tub u can pollish it off in 7 days + 1kg of whey if your after gettin huge ive put on over 21lb since 26th jan so your goal is attainable if you have the dedication and money to go for it
