Leecobrasec -> First ever injury. (Apr. 9 2008 14:39:56)

Before I go on I will be going to the doctors just wanted to see if anyone had the same sort of thing I had etc. About a week or so ago I noticed that my right shoulder really hurt if I tried to do any sort of pressing movement, even raising my arm past shoulder level can make it hurt.

Nothing seems to of set it off I do not recall anything that happened, all I have done differently was weighted wide grip dips rather than narrow, maybe this started my shoulder off. Anyway I took a week off training and my shoulder seemed to be getting better, better should I say for raising my arm, so like a fool because I hate missing any gym time I started training lightly but as soon as I started pressing movements it went back to square one.

At the moment I am panicking that I will not be able to do my weighlifting again, also I am worried that taking too much time off I will lose the gains I have made over the years, however I also know I have to take time off.

Seeing as it actually started feeling better before I stupidly trained again does it show it may not be to serious and probably just needs plenty of recovery time? I am clucthing at straws and I know that the doctors is the way forward but thought id ask. [&:]

That is similar to me. Only I only really feel the pain on my left shoulder when I do flat benches. I can do shoulder presses, incline benches ok. I'm also taking a week break (on it currently) and hoping it will help but I have a horrid feeling that it will be back to square 1 as you say, when I start benching again.

The fact that it was hurting you when you just lifted your arm up doesn't sound good and you should probably go see a doctor sooner than later. I plan to if my shoulder still hurts when i start again next week.

I would see a physio about it, never take any chances where shoulders are concerned

Ditto

A physio will be able to diagnose this for sure. If it is there are some exercises that target the Rotator Cuff to strengthen it. Once doing the exercises, mine got better within a few weeks.

Thanks for the replies, after looking up on google as suggested the syptoms seem to be exact as the rotator cuff injury, I will be seeing a Dr soon.
