Possibly because my premise is wrong.
Which is this: Glycogen and blood glucose fuel intense activity. If so, and assuming glycogen stores are brim-full, It's dangerous to assume. why is correct carb fuel prior to workouts so necessary? Eating carbs before workouts ensures that glycogen stores ARE sufficient to fuel the workout. I feel that it is, but I'm trying to make sense of it.

Nigee, You mentioned "you dont want a insulin spike during a workout" - Which kicks my idea of drinking a whey+Malt shake mid way into a workout (So its already hitting my muscles) in the face.

Whats the downside to a insulin spike during a workout?

So if I consume fast acting carbs every 2 hours untill 2pm, would my glycogen stores be filled up thanks to those carbs Yes. or since they are fast acting would they be burnt before they have time to get stocked ? The more glycogen you have stored, the more carbs your body burns whether you fill glycogen stores using slow or fast carbs.

If I think correctly, those fast carbs i.e malto would be burnt/used before I eat the next carb meal two hours later so that would mean my body could be craving for more before I actually eat the next carb meal, hence missing an opportunity for ideal growth? How much carbs your body burns depends on what you're doing. Sitting burns on average 1-15g (average 5g) of carbs per hour depending on your metabolism and glycogen stores. More intense exercise burns carbs at a higher rate.

do fast acting carbs burn quicker than slow acting when you're resting ?

what about when you train then ? do carbs that are fast acting hence fast in the muscles burn quicker than slow or is it just that fast carbs will be available to burn more quickly than slow ?
cheers

do fast acting carbs burn quicker than slow acting when you're resting ? No. Fast acting refers only to how fast a carb becomes blood glucose after you've eaten it.

Nige, if you've eaten slow carbs one hour before work out, and since those carbs would only convert to blood glucose slowly by slowly, would training performance not be hindered by the fact it's releasing energy a bit at a time? Whereas fast acting would give you more energy at once (but for a shorter period of time) ...

ps: I had a look at your e-book, seems interesting

No. Your muscles use muscle glycogen which is topped-up gradually by glucose from slow carbs. Whereas fast acting would give you more energy at once (but for a shorter period of time) Fast carbs top-up muscle glycogen faster than slow carbs but produce a bigger insulin spike which is not conducive to a good workout.

ps: I had a look at your e-book, seems interesting I need to update it with all of the stuff that I've learned recently.
