Barrel of laughs it was! Luckly I remembered to bring my mp3 player as to avoid listining to Radio one! Much happier doing this session to Slayer and Throwdown than Jo Whiley and co

@90kg Unequipped; 230/142.5/260/632.5 Equipped (gym lifts); 260/170/260

Have plenty in the tank on the equipped squat and the 170 was done in a shirt I can get on and off myself . I have a new bench shirt and a deadlift suit sitting at home waiting to be broken in after WDFPA Euro's.

The vague plan is to open on 260/170/260 at the English Open, but I have lots of work to do after june to get my equipped lifting up to stratch.

Iain i need to run this by you (if your knowledge exists in this area )

I'm going over fibre transitions following resistance training (IIb > IIa) and i remember reading in a paper somewhere that where IIx fibres were identified, this was merely where a fibre was mid-transition (if that makes sense) from IIb to IIa.

Am i going crazy or is it true?

Edit - Nevermind me - i found my references and it was IIc, not IIx, doh!

IIx is the new IIb! Be carfull. Some fibre types have only been identifyed in other species. There is a whole host of intermidates; IIa/IIx I/IIa etc etc etc! These have come about from fibre typing involving myosin heavy chain determination (gel electrophorisis, spelling!) rather than ATPase staining techinques.

Don't get too bogged down! It's understandably complicted and the contractle fibres can alter in many ways.

I have analysed I, IIa, IIx, IIa/IIx and I/IIa (or was it x) fibres

Roman sit ups- some reps x some sets

Great little session today. Trained at Cheetas in Hove with a mate. Planned to do 255x2, but the 1st rep went up so well I finished there and went for, and got, a new pb!! Finished with a bit of speed work but no assistance lifting to save my back a.

PWO nutrition was a big KFC and a beer in the sun whilst watching Brightons finest young girls walking past! Good stuff!

Cheers for the fibre explanation too - i've seen the MHC stuff in some literature too, makes more sense now.

Cheers guys. 265 was harder than it looked but it's a good step forward to 600lbs!

That's where coaches come in - they figure out how much more you can do, and you just do it. I thought it looked comfortable - but then at the British Bench I thought I was on my limit at 192, but when someone showed me the vid straight after the lift I could see there was more there. Weird, isn't it?

It can be weird. I think vids can sometimes make a lift look eaiser than it was. I pull smooth and my sticking point is way down in the lift. Therefore I just have to get past that and the lift will look nice and smooth for well over half the ROM, despite being a max lift. Plus on a grainy vid with poor sound the actual level of effort is hard to define.

I'd love a coach though!

Yeah, i believe 600 is doable now if you went all out TBH - a few slap, some nose torque, etc
