Anyone suffers from this? if so what sort of things do you go through?

Apparently i may have it, although not confirmed yet as it could be a bug (doc told me could be either ) and gave me some tabs to go with it. I have no vomiting, no loss of appetite, no bleeding of anything...etc hence more serious options have been ruled out. But OMG i do go through some phases of pain in the day especially after a meal, goes up to just under my rib cage on left side at first i thought my heart was going.

Worst part is at night, it wake up with excrutiating pain to the point where i have to walk about in the house for a while catch my breath then try to sleep it off.

This has been going on for two weeks and no sign of improvement.

Don't want to worry you, but you could have un-diagnosed crohns disease, or maybe ulcurative colitus.

Thanks for the replies guys. Appreciated.

Im more inlined to think its IBS and nothing more serious (well at least i hope) as it hit me after a works trip to n.ireland and i hate flying and in windy conditions in tiny plasticy looking aeroplanes made the experience a bit more stressful then usual, added by a hectic schedule while there, plus i have no diarhea, blood in anyform or vomiting...etc

Been prescribed a medicine by the doc today which apparently could cause prolactin induced gyno, i thought great, no training, poor diet and add gyno to this, im gona look great in no time :(

Who diagnosed that and how?

IBS is in indefinite diagnosis. It should really only be given as a diagnosis if all other GI pathology has been excluded. Unfortunately many GPs are too quick to label it that Jake may have a point. Definite pathology needs to be ruled out first.

IBS can present with symptoms ranging from constipation to diarrhoea or both at the same time!

It could be a motility problem. You need to let the Dr do his stuff, but if you're not happy, ask for a referral to a gastro-enterologist - they're the specialists.

What medication is it?

Then it's not IBS - it's an intolerance to foods. This is not in line with usual diagnoses. Interesting anecdotes about the calcium though - I must read more

What medication is it?

Been prescribed Domperidone tabs 3 times a day.

Will see how it goes, but if this doesn't start to improve i wont be waiting long till i go to see the doc again but this time i will take your advice and ask her to refer me to a gastro-enterologist as the pain is just too much to ignore, im crouching while i walk with pain right now and waiting for it to ease off so i can go to bed.

Alan, in January I suspected that I have IBS because I often felt serious pain immediately after food consumption + alternating constipation and diarrhea. However I doc suspected a simple poisoning, infection and possibly tapeworms so he prescribed me some Flagyl. After a week on Flagyl the symptoms never returned, but I seem to be developing an intolerance for lactose and wheat.

I have IBS, to the point i go to the toilet for a 'No.2' around 4-8 times per day.

The Mrs told me i go too much, but the Doc said that everybodies bodies are different....

I go so many times that i've had bleeding when going for about the last 8 years, i had a colonoscopy which revealed piles, had them injected, but they just come back again due to the amount of times i go to the loo.............

I work in Sales, so quite often had meetings in London, i enjoy it but it makes me go to the toilet even more, sometimes over 10 times per day.

How do i get around it? I take two immodium plus on the days i have meetings, that way i don't go to the toilet for around 12 hours and have no wind either!

I cannot eat nut products. My belly swells, I feel very sick and get the squits.

As a laymen, I call it IBS as it's a little less graphic than saying 'the sh!ts'!!

well, i get stomach cramps when i have dairy, wheat (gluten), i remember i had a pizza one evening, woke up at 2am and had the worst stomach pain ever, was on the toilet for half an hour.

i used to have diarihea like stools 5-6 times a day, now i take calcium tabs with vitamin D i only go once or twice. it kind of makes me constipated but i need to get the trial and error right on the dosage.
