How to look good naked - 15 April 2008 22:11
Not sure if this has been done before, does anyone watch this its basically a show about overweight women who don't like there bodys and this style guru trys to convince them otherwise?

My missus loves this show and ive seen it a few times, just finished watching it and got the evil eye for being honest

The guy in the show dressed this lady in belly hugging pants nice fitting clothes, nice hair and makep and bulled her up at how gorgeous and sexy she was and she did look ok but at the end when she got starkers she didn't look good naked.

At the start the lady was unhappy with her body and thought she was overweight and flabby once the cameras and praise are gone is she really going to look at herself in the mirror in her expensive lingerie and think she looks good?

I think its all about self-beleif and retraining the mind to appreciate what you've got. We're no different, I've never met anyone on here who is happy with the way they look, always striving for more even when people below them would kill for their look.

the thing i hate about this show is it tells overweight women the way to look good is to buy some new clothes and go to a beauticians, or get a photo taken with some airbrushing. How about oh i dunno going on a diet, eating a salad from time to time and going to the gym.

The program is not suggesting that a change of clothing and make up is all the ladies need but it is showing them how to dress better to suit their shape at that moment in time. Many wear clothing that just does not flatter them and a simple change of perhaps a different skirt/jacket length can make all the difference.

I will honestly say I don't like seeing women knacked. I love bikini, or erm tight body leotard or something. good clothing is far more attractive; even on larger women. I won't deny I don't look at page 3 now and again. you can look far better and sexier with something on. But I can understand this programme is to give confidence. mixed feelings to me

RE: How to look good naked - 15 April 2008 23:56
I agree.

I get annoyed at that show all the time.

When I'm chubby and have eaten too much for a few months / weeks and not done enough cardio....i know i have a tummy. When I look in the mirror and see fat, I admit it's fat and do summit about it or accept it.

What's with today's weak willed society where people who obviously have ****ty bodies, have to be told they have great ones, to feel ok?

I mean FFS...if you're unhappy with how you look, it's not some fixed, set in stone thing, it's completely maliable. Why don't they just...i dunno

- work out
- stop eating crap

Half the time it'd be the same excuses:

- oh I don't have the time
- i do eat healthy - i eat cereal for every breakfast and i dont eat anything fatty (which is just...a blatend misunderstanding of nutritional concepts, when a person who's diet is 80-90% fast carb based thinks they eat "healthy" lol!!!)

No one has a 25hr day, if they "dont have time" to work out, it's cos they're doing something else, and should either drop something else, or accept that they're a chunky monkey.

anyways....why can't he just say:

"you're fat, but we can change you"

?

I remember when i watched it recently back home I made my mum cry!

There was this fat beast on it and i kept saying that this you be made illegal its on before the watershed and there must be children all across the country running out the room crying and having nightmares night after night that this big fat howk was going to come and eat them!!

My mum didn't like that comment!

Think its quite good. Much better than 'Tranny and Sue' and 'Gillian Mckeith'.

If he gives them more confidence then great and it is about clothes making you feel good, not diet/exercise although it should be addressed

I think it's slightly strange that they called the show 'how to look good naked' when all they do is try and cover as much of the persons naked body as possable.

How about. "How to look good in clothes, as your never going to look good naked unless you go to the gym you fat bastards" or "jack5r is an uncaring git"

I hate those kind of shows.

As a nation I think we need to stop trying to make fat people feel better.
The job they did of her hair, clothes and make-up was great - I am not knocking that side of things at all.
Reguarding there bodies though, it gives them un-warrented self-esteem.
It's like they make it look like it's OK to be fat.

That sort of thing only has a place with people with medical probs that make it much harder to loose weight OR the people who are really trying to loose weight already.
She should really have been encoraged to take a hard look at how she had ended up (people have valid reason's so not saying it's anything to be ashamed of either... just no proud of) and helped to work on loosing the extra pounds IMO.
A muscle that's weak in isolation will be weak in integration.

I agree with the 'go on a diet and get healthy' mantra. I can also see how damaging the body image those women currently have, is. Giving them confidence to accept how they are is a good thing. Some women are frightened of entering a gym as they feel fat. They worry what people think, the fact they can be seen. If she now has the confidence to marry her bloke, that is a good thing. Not being confident enough to put on a wedding dress is sad. She looked ok in the undies on the catwalk. She was clearly a lot happier.

Perhaps that confidence could be the catalyst for change. Empowering her to enter a gym, to believe she can improve. It could be big turning point for her.

There's a difference between accepting being fat is ok and accepting you are fat.

RE: How to look good naked - 16 April 2008 06:37
Some of the comments here have really made me despair :/

The majority of the women on this show aren't exactly obese ! .. They might not be lean but I wouldn't call them fat.

I think it's a really good programme and it's refreshing to see something like this where they don't chuck a load of money at the women and get loads of surgery done.

Not everyone wants to go to the gym and not everyone wants to be lean, some people prefer being cuddly and they just need the confidence in themselves.

Looking at yourself in the mirror and being in tears because you actually hate what you see isn't something I would wish on ANYONE and if this can help people get over that then bloody good for them !

/leaves feeling angry
