Hi girlies

Just a quick question really to see if im on the right track

I'm 5'8 and 143lbs just wondering if you's think the amounts I'm lifting
sound ok - or i sound weak lol.

bench - 40kg 3 x 10
db shoulder press - 12.5kg per db
db curl - 12.5kg
one arm rows 15kg
lat pull 37.5 kg
weighted crunch 5 kg

I know you shouldnt compare yourself to others and
my lifts are increasing but I train on my own at home
so got nothing to use as a guide really.

cheers

You're right not to compare yourself against others. If you're happy with the results you're getting then be happy with the weights you're lifting. There will be a mixed bag of results on here as we have members who are just starting out and those who have been at it longer. Your long term goals will dictate what you should be aiming for.

Nothing to be ashamed of with those weights!

I would also add that training with another person now and then does give you the motivation (and the physical support!) to push yourself to lift heavier!

To me, weight we can lift doesn't mean nothing: technique & intensity is more important!

completley agree with this - partners had to save me from a barbell trapping me to the bench a couple of times.
unfortunatley none of my mates are into working out

Your weights seem fair enough to me. Everyone is built different and on different programs. So its hard to compare yourself to others. If you are aching the next day or giving the odd grunt out in the gym im sure you are doing just fine.

I lift for one person and one person only ..... me

As long as you are putting the effort in, ANY weight is respectable

I work out alone as well so I can understand your need to compare yourself to someone. I actually lay around the same weights that you. Maybe slighty less sometimes too hehe, So I think you're doing well.
Maybe we should be viritual training buddies. hehehe

I read someone mentioned intesity during weight lifting. That's something I really struggle with. I can lift as heavy as I can, but I never break a sweat... Any tips on that?

Elsa, I don't sweat much when doing weights in comparison to doing cardio. All the stopping and starting recovers the heart rate sufficiently to prevent this for me. As long as you know you're doing as much as you can then that is enough intensity.

oh.. well thats good to hear, Kitty I have been thinking that maybe Im not doing it "fast" enough or taking too long breaks, but again not having someone to compare it with makes it again difficult to know. I'm just doing my thing the way I know best. Steady and controlled
