Having been someone who bred working terriers and running dogs for a lot of years and coming into contact with perhaps people who know more about fighting dogs than I would ever want to know then I can say there is an awful lot of bull in this post.
The wolf is an awesome creature but in the wild would very rarely fight to the death, wild animals very rarely do.
People who match their dogs will very rarely match against a dog more than a pound or two in weight, it is that critical in a fight. The huge weight difference between the average pit (35-50lb) and a 130lb wolf would be too much of a difference. The whole debate that the pit would dominate through power is bollocks.
Think about a wrestler, if one had a five stone weight advantage it would, in most cases be too much.
I do not in any way condone dogfighting but I have come across people who do and believe me they would agree with me.
Now a wolf against a Japanese TOSA, that would be a battle as similar in weight..
and TONY, sorry mate you are talking out of your ass......

A good fighting dog will rarelly weigh more than 50lbs. If bigger dogs meant better fighters then everyone would fight big dogs.
The reason you don't see large dogs fighting smaller ones is because there would be no value in the betting. If you put a 50lb pit in the ring with a 200lb Rotty, the odds on the Rotweiller would be so long and the Pit so short that no one would bet.
If no one bets then theres no fight. What would the point be?

If a dog bites you, are you suppose to pull on their balls to get them off you?

Pitbull....piece of p1ss.
Wolf would be too big, too slow imo, far more area for a small, strong dog to attack.
The size thing is silly....I have a giant breed dog, he's very big and strong and i've been up the canal whilst he's brawled with staffies...they're too good at getting under neath.
Ok, my dog is no killer like a wolf but the size thing would still be the major issue.
A larger, gangly animal wouldn't cope with a lower much more muscular and faster one.

The Pit Bull if you ask me, and people saying they are 50lbs? Staffies maybe but some American Pit Bulls are 110lbs! and the national geo bite test used a puppy or very young dog for some reason.
The Wolf is a great animal designed to survive and have a lot of stamina
The American Pit Bull is all muscle and power, it has all the tools and a lower sense of gravity.
I'd never like to see something like this btw forced pit fighting is sick in my opinion.

Pitbull all the way
Wolfs are wild animals hence have a very strong survival instinct which is something pits seem to lack, a pit would just go all out. I recon the wolf would give up and try and run to save himself.

according to this site the standard weight of a pitbull is in the range from 30ib-60ib for a mature male

hmm touhgh one to call,i think the pit bulls will fight fearlessly to the death (has no survival thoughts to make it back down) where as the wolf is smarter and will sefl preserve, maybe making it run away able to fight another day.
like they say its not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of fight in the dog.

I think it would be closer than what Tony is suggesting( dependant on the dog) but agree with his posts on the whole, I guarantee the amount of people on here who will have actually seen a proper fighting dog I could count on one hand, you don`t see them unless you know the right people, they don`t get taken for a walk down the local park on a lead lol.

i have seen them and i have spoken with people tha match dogs! they say that there is only one proper fighitng dog and that a pitbull would beat tosa inu etc aswel! i think dog fighting is cruel but the subject fascinates me
