IE 12 set's ov 8 reps.

Are you guys including the compound exercises as a set.

For examples

Biceps you say u do 6 sets, how bout when u do bent over rows, is that set included in the 6?

I read it as sets per bodypart, which is usually over a week as most people's routines repeat on a weekly basis, yes.

Per session, I do 16 to 24 sets, depending on the body part.

Guys you all seem to do alot of sets, i thought doing to many sets would be over training, which must mean i am probably under training, heres my weekly routine, tell me what you think.

Chest and Triceps
Flat Bench 4 sets
Incline 3 sets
Flyes or Pec Dec 3 sets
Total on chest = 10 sets
This is where i get confused coz the above are compounds and work triceps as well??

Skulls 3 sets
Rope Pull down 3 sets
Total on Tris = 6 sets

Back and Biceps
Deadlifts 4 sets
Bent over Rows 3 sets
Wide grip chins or Wide grip pull down 3 sets
Total = 10 sets
This is where i get confused coz the above are compounds and work biceps as well??

DB curls 3 sets
Preacher curls 3 sets
Total = 6 sets

Legs and shoulders
Squates or leg press 4 sets
SLDL 3 sets
Leg Extensions 3 sets
Total = 10 sets

Military press 4 sets
seated DB press 3 sets
Front Lateral raises 3 sets
bent over flyes 3 sets
Total = 13 sets

How many you do depends upon your training set up (split, type of split, whole body etc), movement choices and your goals so I would help to have that info to!

back 15- 3 on each of 5 exercises, deads, pullovers, low rows, high rows and pull downs.... deads are on a seperate day from the rest

chest 6 sets- 3 flat bench and 3 inc db

triceps 3 sets of tricep dips

biceps 3 sets of db curls

thighs 3 sets of squats

hams3 sets of curls

calves 3 sets

shoulders 6, 3 sets of db presses, 3 sets of lat raises

my legs are my best body part so they get less work,

my back is ok but the top lacks thickness.

Someone told me this rule,

bigger muscle groups - 12 sets max
smaller muscle groups - 8 sets max

I think it a very good guideline especially for beginners

CHEST - 8/9 sets
TRICEPS - 6 sets max
BICEPS - 6 sets
SHOULDERS - 6 sets max
LEGS - 12 sets
TRAPS - 3/4 sets
ABS - 6 sets
