Hey, i litrally started the 5x5 workout yesterday, came on here today and read this is there any workout plans people would reccomend for quickest muscle growth please? cheers

If you have a bit of training under your belt then 5x5 is great, go for it. If not you may want to try a split routine based on the foundation movements give you you in the marathon thread. It is what you do outside the gym that determines whether or not you will grow as well as the training.

There is no quick fix mate! I started Cashmans body building for beginners in Feb, after 13 weeks I went from 12 and a half stone to 13 and a half stone with good strength gains. Now I started the 5x5 routine last week and hopefully get as good gains I have from Cashmans but I understand it'll take time & dedication!!

5x5 training, how to manage weight. Attempt 5 sets of 5 reps. It'll take a couple weeks to get the weights right. Once you do, you may find you can increase the weight quite substantially for a while. When you add new weight, chances are you will not manage 5x5. As a rule of thumb, I'd suggest doing a minimum of 3 sets of 5 reps, with no less than 5 or 6 reps from the total of the last two sets. When you pick up the missing reps in following weeks, you're ready to increase weight. If you don't manage to do the 5 or 6 reps, reduce the weight. In earlier periods, this may be because you have added too much weight. As your growth slows down, you'll need to 'micro load' adding no more than 5kgs, preferably 1kg or 2kgs each time you reach 5x5. In this instance, if after increasing weights you don't hit the minimum requirement, I'd be inclined to stay at that weight for at least one more week. Other influences could have affected lifts. Diet, tiredness, concentration etc etc.
