fair play on the switch...i loved the feeling of not gassing when training or coming of the treadmill after 30min 5kg jog and feeling totally A.OK

yeah it's cool. I'm going to be focusing on bodybuilding i guess..but also with a fair amount of cardio focus. just ensuring i remain an all round "athlete" i guess

There were hundreds of people limping about, looking close to death all afternoon after it lol. Obviously not used to exercise, then just decided to run 6 miles. You'd feel sorry for them if it wasn't so funny lol

Thanks for the props. I'm liking the cardio at the mo.

How's your bulking going?

Today's w/o:

Wednesday 21/5/08

Started off planning to just do 8 rounds, then decided to add in some core work.

8 rnds, 3 mins each, 30s rest between rnds. Personal trainer came in during round 2 and CHANGED MY MUSIC!!!!! and then started yapping on to 2 clients on the spinners. i didn't care much, but still, ignorant or what?

1: Skipping
2: Shadow boxing
3: Heavy bag - skill
4: Heavy bag - full pace
5: Heavy bag - skill / power
6: Heavy bag - skill / power
7: Shadow boxing
8: Heavy bag - skill / power

Core:

Band twists x 20 each side x 4 sets each side

Stretch off back. I've got a twinge on the left side, hoping that'll have worked itself out by tomorrow after all the stretching.

Worked out with an old mate from school who's now a pro cage fighter. Did the following workout...which was his idea...

I did pretty well though, it was timed and my time was pretty good for a 1st go! My fitness must be ok

Start Timing -
25 pull ups
25 kettlebell clean and push presses on each arm
50 deadlifts w/60k
50 squat jumps with 2 x 12kg kettlebells
bench press 60k from floor and do 100 leg raises, 50 to each side of extended barbell
25 chin ups
Finish - 18mins 46s

Then...

Bodyweight only:

60 squats
60 toe touching star jumps
60 sit ups
60 burpees into sprawl
60 push-ups

Then...

Cool down pad work:

3 mins light pad work
1 min heavy pad work

im a massive fan of insane circuits ,so a few quezzies - what size was the kettlebell for the clean n pushpress ? and the squat jumps - are they like thrusters ? or do you hold the weight to the side and just do a squat and jump ? oh and one more -was it a 7ft barbell ? im not sure i could get my legs to each end !!

great work, you must be in great condition

Thanks mate, I was surprised myself to be honest, as I thought I was just keeping my fitness up with the little bits and pieces I do here and there.

In terms of the kettlebells, it was all light stuff:

Clean and presses - 16kg kettlebell
Squat jumps - 12k kettlebell on both sides, squat down deep (legs maybe a degree above parallel) jump up so feet leave the ground, land and squat jump again.

What are thrusters? Are they were you add a burpee?

I think next time I could go up in weight on both - probably to a 20k for c+p, and same for squat jumps...but to be honest, I'd probably get more benefit just speeding it up and keeping it as a conditioning workout. Always tempting, though not always rewarding to increase weight used.

Yep 7ft barbell - you REALLY had to twist your core round. My time up to that point was ****ing ace then that slowed me down. That took much longer than every other move. You just twist your legs to where the disk is, so that makes it a little easier. The disk for me, was between by feet / toes of each foot on each rep.

You feel sick by the time the bodyweight exercises come. It seems like a good routine to do once a week to beast yourself on.

awsome !! gonna give that a go tomorrow !!

thrusters - hold the kettlebell/dumbells at shoulder height (like the start of a shoulder press) do a squat and hen you reach the top ,press the weights , rinse and repeat - these in the form of tabata are killers

killers

That sounds pretty cool.

What weight should you use? I'm around 13-14st (depending on gym vs. home scales) for reference.

Friday 23-5-08

Done in 25 mins

Bent over barbell rows x 4 working sets
Machine pulls downs x 3 sets
Machine rows x 3 sets
Hammer curls x 3 sets
Concentration curls x 3 sets

12kg kettlebells is a good weight to use for thrusters (tabata or rapid sets of 20) , as i recall when 1MR tried them at my house he had to stop ,but dont tell him i told you

Do you do them as a set of 20, then take 30 seconds rest, repeat, or work out rest based on fitness levels?

I think I'd probably do 20, count to 10, then repeat 20 times...something like that. Does that sound about right?

Saturday 24-5-08

Db shoulder presses x 4 sets - gained some good strength on these!
Machine shoulder presses x 3 sets
Rear delt machine x 4 sets
Shrugs x 4 sets

Walk home

Core:

300 sit-up / crunches (30 x 10 sets, little rest inbetween sets)

Tried ON Rocky Road today. Just got it in the shop. Is quite nice, tastes like...marzipan?
