what side of the fence as you sitting on so?

edit yeah neb its gonna start again!

as much as i dislike teg of late i slightly agree with him but think his phrasing is off

At 18 stone, with experience of lifting etc, then 160kg is achievable for a majority of lifters (not easy)(IMO of course)

Personally, when it comes to strength, I don't really give a crap about bodyweight

You can lift/move/carry/throw what you can lift/move/carry/throw

If you weigh 2 stone more or less, honestly, who cares in the real world? What bearing does that bit of extra or lesser weight have on what you can actually physically do? If you can do something, you can do it

The main relevance of bodyweight is in sports with weight divisions, other than that I can't see it being of much importance to anyone when we are talking about how much weight you can push

The only relevance of bodyweight to strength ratio is in sports with weight divisions, and that's something which hasn't even been mentioned in the thread unless I've missed it (which I may have done)

i 100% agree good post mate!

I agree.

Its basically so the little guys can extrapolate that if they were bigger they *would* be stronger than the big guy. They aren't and they wont ever be so it's pointless really.

You are probably quite heavy then, it's all the little blowaway boys talk about.

All the weights I ever failed to lift were simply too heavy, it was never the case that I was too light

Which brings me nicely to my point that too many people are hung up on what others can lift, if some put as much effort into their own as they do others they'd probably see some nice improvements

Well said both men

the devils advocate in me would say that you have to be more impressed with a 70kg twig benching 150kg raw than a 130kg porker ?

Ultimatley it doesnt matter if we can bench more, are fatter , thinner , etc etc but you cant look me in the japseye and say you wouldnt think that if you saw it
