ORIGINAL: Integra A lot of possibles there but does not really change anything. A sub one and a half times bodyweight bench press should be pretty easy for a serious trainer at 117kg. So assuming the vast majority of trainers on this site would be close to the 100kg mark, why are there so few people who can bench 150kg? (regardless of ease)

By 'serious trainer' I do not mean recreational bulkers.

I have never met a serious trainer weighing 18 stone who could not bench press at least 160kg. And I have met hundreds.

A serious trainer for me is someone who has spent a great deal of time and effort in the gym and has the body to match, rather than recreational bulkers who do not. My opinion that a serious trainer weighing 18 stone should be able to bench press 160kg is a valid one based on my experience.

ORIGINAL: Dan Nukem Was a Polish lad I was training with at the gym tonight. I was well motivated by him and I set a new pb of 170k. He did 180k and was only a shade off 190k to be fair. Really satisfying stuff. Could be wrong but don't recall seeing anyone bench that raw before. Usually at my gym, nobody even benches 140k! Quite a few doing between 500 and 600lb here. Polish lad does just shy of 400 for seated press behind the neck, too.

Am I not serious, or am I just pathetic?

im sorry but Integra you are wrong! 160kg is a **** load of weight imo! Also how many serious trainers are 18stone? Thats also a lot of weight To be fair! Also i take offence at the term 'Recreational Bulker' I train hard and have been on a continuous bulk for around a year although it is time to cut soon 160kg is 25stone you say that should be 'easy' for a man 18 stone thats almost 1 and a half times his body weight! i dont think that would be easy!

Ooops - didnt mean to start a barny I may try the 160-170k bench soon for 1RM but TBH I rarely do them as they provide little beyond ego boosts tbh. I dont know what is good or bad for a bench, all I know is I enjoying do it. Iron has taught me that good things come to he who is consistant and trains to be the best I can. As for what others do, I dunno, end of the day what someone else lifts doesnt mean squat to me - there is no gain in their strength or lack there of

160kg. But I'll be able to do that by the end of the year so not that impressive really. (I hope!)

I do agree with Integra in one respect, 160kg raw bench isnt impressive unless at abodyweight of under 100kg.(or 100% drug free) I dont mean to offend anyone, and I am by no means backing Integra.
