ORIGINAL: waylander I do not know were some people train but I have not seen 100s of people do 160Kg at any weight Me neither. To be honest, I don't even remember seeing 100s of people! I know I have. I've seen thousands of people in gyms during in my life. No way can I remember what they all benched though lol I do remember seeing a 200kg raw bench though. I am not sure if this was the biggest I ever saw, but I do remember being very impressed, especially as it was not long after I joined my first proper hardcore gym. Almost everyone in there was stronger than me even though I'd been training for years lol

Well as I train at home the biggest bench I have ever witnessed personaly is 80kg for 2 reps. Should be able to manage 85kg-90kg in a few weeks at 66-67kg BW. I think that an impressive bench press is 1.5 times the benchers BW. So I agree with Integra that 160kg at 18 stone isn't as amazing it seems as it's under 1.5xBW. I would still be very impressed seeing someone bench that no matter their BW though, for the shear weight they are lifting.

I believe the PB board at my gym has a 200 on it right now, more impressive was my mate at around 80kg benching just shy of 200 (then doing 220 with a shirt)

ORIGINAL: GOE1988 I do agree with Integra in one respect, 160kg raw bench isnt impressive unless at abodyweight of under 100kg.(or 100% drug free) I dont mean to offend anyone, and I am by no means backing Integra. 6 months ago I would have said its very hard, but once you get nearer to it, you begin to appreciate what is attainable.

How near? Heh, I'd like to know the answer to that as well I've benched more than 160kg in the past. But I can't do it any more, due to not training properly and stuff I found it impressive before I could do it, I found it impressive when I could do it, and I still find it impressive now that I can't do it again! But, I'm a nutcase, so don't listen to me

I think the biggest I've seen was 180. Don' think I ever witnessed Big Steve benching on any of my Adlington visits. I benched 160 at 106 kg and was over the ****ing moon with it. 160 is a solid lift regardless of body weight.

I have been training nearlly 10 years in about 10 gyms only ever seen 3 people do 160! so i am either BLIND or it isnt very easy at all! I have to say that i have a direct correlation between body weight and my bench, although I dont train it as hard as I used to still managed a 180 after 4 other push exercises on tue so was happy with that as I am back over 19 stone,

I dont think 160KG bench is that great to someone on steriods i HAVE seen over a 100 of these. However 160KG natural is really good.

Off the top of my head there is around 5-6 people at my gym that could bench 160, all of varying weights. I think its an impressive lift still and i dont think it should be expected of anyone regardless of weight.

Quite an ego boost reading this, natural, 14 stone and 150 kg bench with more to come I think as it's back to going up now that my shoulder seems to be healed. Bring on 160. Best I've seen is my own Edit, make that 155 now, just added 5 kg to my PB

it's very easy to throw numbers around but a lot harder to lift them. I would be surprised if there are more than around 5% of gym goers that can bench over 160kg. I have seen a few over the 20 years I have been training, a few 200's (raw on their own with nobody touching the bar) but it is not an easy weight to lift by any means. I have done 210 raw at 100kg, 225 raw at 110kg and the most I have ever done raw at 135kg is 235kg for one ropey rep. Def some correlation. What is your max bench Integra and what is your bodyweight?

225kg for 3 reps, he was 23 at the time, I hear he is doing 250kg now raw.
