I hadn't noticed the straps the first time I watched the vid to be honest.

1RM, I used to use straps and I thought I had the weakest grip in the world. After buying some chalk and dropping the weight, my grip caught up with my back strength in a matter of weeks. Seeing as you've just maxed out, I'd use this opportunity to drop the weight down and ditch the straps. Honestly, you won't need them and after a while you'll wonder why you ever used them. Your back strength is there - throw those things away, buy a bottle of liquid chalk, and allow your grip strength to catch up.

Only use them on the heavy sets mate, I go raw as long as I can but as soon as grip starts to fail I bang the straps on.

Bang on the money, I was at a sticking point of around 220kg for ages, dropped the straps when a mate gave me some chalk, and within about 3 weeks I was d/ling 260.

I'll give liquid chalk a try then. Is it expensive? Where do I need to look to buy it, the internet?

www.megagrip.co.uk or MyProtein. About £5-6 per bottle I think. One bottle lasts me over a year.

Seriously mate, try it raw with chalk and you'll be surprised. Deadlifts are a cool exercise and even cooler when done totally raw. When that bottle of chalk arrives, never use straps for deads again. Trust me on this.

Neb do you think it was fair to strap a handle onto your dog and force him to chomp the lawn! You know what dogs are like with even a bit of grass!

I think it was totally fair, the grass needed trimming.....he needs to work for his dinner. However, after a few mouthfuls he was barfing everywhere.
Strange...I'll keep him at it though

Commercial gym, they wouldn't even know what chalk was. "who's got talc everywhere??". Does it clean off nicely with a sweat-towel? You're a good egg you Boar!!

Will do! Be good to get gip/forearms up a bit!

if you keep it in a small bag and 'pop your hands in for a rubby' then they wont even know you have it.
