I train at home, but I am starting to miss a decent gym I've never liked the commercial fitness places. Never felt like I fit in at those posh places

Mines a fitness first so mainly a fitness oriantated place but we still get people in who have stood on stage with the likes of ronnie coleman, if it's good enough for them it's good enough for me. It's good because it's a nice environment, some BBer's a power lifter or 2, a few footballers and a few olypic athletes, it's reletevly clean and good kit but with some people with a hardcore work ethic. Not a bad balance.

Trained in both-The basement of a church to David lloyd-must admit don't miss the wooden benches and having to walk outside and up the stairs to train legs-especially in the snow -for the price and location I can't beat Fitness First in Oz-I have one less than 2 mins from home and 2 mins from work

prefer hardcore gym because other guys have got the same mind set.though please don´t think i despise the other fitness centre gyms as I respect anybody who sets out to do something for his health and condition. But I prefer hardcore gym ( or a gym with hardcore public at least) because öther guys have the same mind set as me, and anyway I dislike having to think whether training in an old muscle vest might bring down the tone of the establishment...

Whichever is most convenient and has all the equipment you need, available at the times you want to use it.

Am i the only one who prefers a clean air conditioned gym with all the latest machines (but still a free weight section)? Because many do not cater for serious weight trainees. The atmosphere in a smaller 'hardcore' places is almost always more condusive to hard weigh training. Further the latest machines means bugger all to weight training. That is also not to say goals cannot be achieved in commercial gyms equipment permited and also when you goals are more general fitness based. I did enjoy the free coffee and drinks at FF though!
