Does anyone have experience of the iPhone in relation to it's ease of use with texting and calendar. I have a Blackberry and is it as good as that for these features?
My friend can unlock it for me but I am on Vodafone would the internet still work on there??

Del the internet works with voda and the texting is the best i have used on a touch screen phone unless you have sweaty hands. Had mine a day and i am thoroughly pleased.

i updated it and it was fine and it synced all my songs and contacts fine. The calender is ok its similar to the ones on other phones to be honest but it also syncs with your pc.

Muscleman , I was so impressed by how quickly yours was unlocked /Jailbroken, that I just Jailbroke my own (I wasn't going to bother - but now I know I can replace it so cheaply , I thought "What the hell" )

I agree , Ziphone is an excellent piece of software and I'll definately be donating ! Unusual that a free piece of software impresses me that much

I just installed a Guitar app - like this one , but calle Gutairist - OK , so no real world use , but the way it works/responds is just freaky !

http://www.break.com/index/ipod-guitar-hero.html

Delboy - I agree with Muscleman , the Calender appears the same as any other device at first glance , but what becomes apparant after a bit of use , is that is really easy to "scroll around" in (as with most iPhone apps) - I find it easy to touch the day you want , or swipe your finger to find months and then tap the date you are looking for - much easier than navigating with a key /dpad I think. , I also like the option of "list view" , where a tap on the button at the top will take you from a calender view , to a list of all your entries - which can be scrolled quickly with a flick of your finger - again , nothing that other phones don't do - but the iPhones UI makes it really easy and usable.

Having said thtat its not a hard sale,as im a recent Apple convert, the quailty and useability of the stuff just makes everything else boring and a pain to use.
Dr Z what do you reckon Iphone 2 will have?
my bet is the current line up will stay the same with an addition of a top spec model, like the ipods a large range
the new top spec will have a better camera and some eye opening new software(no doubt we will try to hack on to our old iphones)
Do you think they will be 3g or hop to the upcoming 3.5g and be first to market?

TBH Mate , I think this may have been the plan all along !

3G iPhone looks like a June launch - and I suspect people are buying the 16GB model now anyway - they have probably realised that they are going to be lumbared with lots of "left over" 8GB's , and that's why they are knocking them out cheap
... They are probably looking at the prospect of box breaking (i.e unlocking and using on another network) as a "loss leader" - doing exactly as you suggest - familiarizing people with the UI , so they'll go out and buy a shiny new 3G on when it comes out

Dr Z what do you reckon Iphone 2 will have?

Well the Chipset will (apparantly) support HSDPA to 7.2mbps (well and truly 3.5G) , 5mp camera & Video recording capability , DVB-H TV etc it DOESN"T support GPS though unfortunately !

My guess is that there will be around a 3.2 mp camera (5MP may be seen as overkill in a phone) and it WILL do Video - MMS , I reckon Apple may stand their ground on this one , trying to push mobile email

Of course, just because the chipset supports it , doesn't mean it will have it , just that is is possible

3G is a given though IMO - as Apple have looked into saving screen energy to facilitate 3G

Yeh i donated aswell to the ziphone guys. So many people seemed to have trouble unlocking and jailbreaking their Iphones that i was amazed when i pushed 1 button and it was all done.

On the 3g Iphone front im not sure whether i will upgrade because im not really sure how neccessary it is. Most of the time i am somewhere which has wifi and on the camera front my casio exlim does a perfect job. The main reason i got the iphone was the user interface, it really is a joy to use. People who say it is a fashion accesory should use it for more than the five minutes they do in the Apple shop.
The Ipod functionality is an added bonus too compared to the N series of phones it is 1000x better.
