Does one have to go to the store or can it be bought online without the contract?

Apparantly you can - the o2 site says you are not commiting to a contract until you activate via itunes

BUT - The problem is the £169 price is only available instore (o2 and CPW) - even the Apple stores don't offer the low price !

EDIT - Seems o2 are offering the £169 price online too now !

Does that mean I can't put any music on it? Or just not with iTunes?

(I really don't know how this stuff works)

COOL !

That's 3 new iPhone owners as a result ot this thread by my count

I am sure all 3 of you will have a pretty good Idea why I am always raving about it after a couple of weeks of use

One thing to remember though (and it's quite a biggy !! ) - Don't do any updates (via itunes) - wait a while and I am sure Zibri will have Ziphone working for newer firmwares - Then you'll have to (I think )
1) Restore / Virginalise your phone (using Ziphone)
2) Update using itunes
3) Crack it all over again with Ziphone

....but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it eh ? ... or you could simply leave you iPhone as it is now and forget about updates

Been using mine for 3 days now and i love it. Best phone i have ever owned and the best piece of kit i have bought in a long while. Ziphone is an excellent piece of software and jailbreaking it has made so many more features available to download.

(I really don't know how this stuff works)

The activation proccess is done via iTunes (but if you are going to unlock it , you bypass it and don't "need" iTunes for this purpose)
For putting music on it , then iTunes is the best option (IMO ) There may be 3rd party apps that do the same thing , but I have never used them TBH
Thats not to say you have to buy your music from iTunes , you simply use iTunes to manage your existing MP3 collection and then iTunes syncs it to your iPhone whenever you plug it in (which is everytime you charge it )

Nope !!

Just Gimmicky stuff , like the Guitar , Piano etc , ... and the Labyrinth game (which uses the accellerometer to control the marble)

I am purposely not looking to get too attached to any apps , as the official firmware with 3rd party apps is coming out in June , and I'll probably want to get that (which may involve losing the apps on the installer we have now ) so I don;t want to get too attached to anything !

massively tempted to get one of these, but when things get all techy and I do it myself, things always end up going wrong

I'm with o2 at the mo, with the pay monthly, contract, simplicity 15 thing - £15 a month, 200 mins, 400 txts, unlimited 02 to o2 calls

would it just be a case of buying the phone for £169 and bunging my o2 sim in, after unlocking it using the Ziphone thingy?

I wouldn't want the 18 month jobby

thanks in advance

yep it really is as simple as that. You connect it to your computer after installing ziphone and push one button and you can use your o2 simplicity contract as i am doing right now.
