I've been eating over 300g of protein and have seen some great results. Someone at the gym told me that this was very harmful on my kidneys. Should I cut down, or is ok as long as I'm feeling ok ?

That seems a little excessive for your requirements, but if you can afford it, your wee is clear and you don't smell of ammonia, carry on.

What height are you? I imagine that if you substituted 100g of carbs/fat for the protein, you would get the same results.

the rate of AA oxidation corresponds to meet requirements. there are a few studies suggesting a limit tho? maybe Nige can chip in here

Yeah. The support forum (the nice one) and the original forum (the sarky one).

okay - the definitive answer - from a review Article by Annsi Manninen

Protein does not damage the kidneys in healthy individuals.
The only evidence of protein damaging the kidneys is where there is an underlying pathology - ie. something is already wrong with them.

Also as an aside there is increasing evidence that protein restriction under 0.8g per kg - the recommendation for sedentary individuals - in those with impaired kidney function due to problems with protein energy malnutrition.

There you go

Sometimes, you have to be cruel to be kind. The support forum will never become like the other one.
