Just started to eat buffallo meat instead of beef, the nutritional values are way better than conventional beef and tastes just as good, i read somewhere its 15% less fat, 50-60% less cholesterol and higher in protein than beef, think its even better values than chicken but not sure about that one, any other members use it ?

The cholesterol content of meat is irrelevant to your serum cholesterol level. I don't have a local Farmer's Market so I haven't tried buffalo or any exotic meats yet. Hmmm, squirrel!

Hmmm, squirrel! As of Feb this year i have been appointed to a specialist to sort out my cholesterol (was 8.6), one of the things he mentioned was to cut down my red meat intake, so i took it as read that steak an the likes must have some sort of bearing on cholesterol levels. Am back next month for more lipid tests hopefully it has depleted a little.

In people with homo/heterozygote familial hypercholesterolaemia, dietary cholesterol does affect serum cholesterol. In healthy people, it doesn't. With a total chol of 8.6mmol/L, it looks like you have heterozygote familial hypercholesterolaemia.

To WR & BB. Belly fat is bad news for your health as fat deposits in that area feed your liver with saturated fats via the portal vein which a) increases insulin resistance in your liver and b) increases cholesterol production by your liver. Insulin resistance in your liver makes it produce more glucose which in turn raises fasting serum glucose and insulin levels. All of these things aren't good for your arteries.

Did you feel particularly drowsy after eating a lot of carbohydrates? High serum cholesterol doesn't have any symptoms. Did you have high serum triglycerides?

The ratio of muscle mass gain to body-fat gain depends on training and how near someone is to his/her genetic limit. Overweight people (so-called endomorphs) have a naturally large appetite and move about less. That's me. Skinny people (so-called ectomorphs) have a naturally small appetite and move about more (including fidgeting). That's my ex-G/F. Muscular people (so-called mesomorphs) are jammy so & sos.

Studies show that the higher the body fat level, generally the high proportion of body fat gained with weight increases. It depends what you mean by skinny or overweight. I am overweight but not fat!
