I've read it occurs when people diet and im experiencing it now, but is it a sign of dieting 'to hard' or just simply a result of all the hormones and metabolic changes occuring to try save my bodys fat reserves? Would a deficit caused by cardio as opposed to diet 'trick' the body, so it will give me it back? (lol) Im guessing the body see's a deficit as a deficit, but perhaps the intake of food would trick it into releasing hormones due to eating more food? Thanks in advanced as always.

Have you cut your carbs quite low?

200-200Grams a day of average, protein is 160-170 average, fats are lower at around 40-50grams. Cardio is 3x a week for 45mins, training is also 3x a week for same time and im pretty inactive other times, so chances are glycogen isnt ever depleted or anything.

Diet looks reasonable. Have you considered other factors? Stress? Worries? How long have you been 'missing' your libido?

Yeah no variables have really changed, Same day to day activitys, same things to stress about, training remains the same - just a calorie deficit on this diet is all i can think of. Still straight too Probably 3weeks, normally pretty high so im certain its lower. Anyone had the same problem and tried cycling carbs, if so did this help you or not?

Hi mate, I find that when dieting my libido also drops. However I follow a low carb approach when cutting and the re-introduction of carbs usually brings my libido back. I typically consume less than 80g carbs per day when cutting.

It sounds like your tired out, probably because your doing too much. Personally, if i'm trying to lose weight I drop the weights to a minimum, just doing enough so I don't get sore as hell when I crank the weights back up. I also shorten the sessions to a maximum of 45 minutes or I feel knackered the day after. I also mix the cardio up, or I end up feeling knackered all week. I try to do a long session on Saturday (so I have Sunday to recover) and two shorter (high intensity) session during the week. Typically: Saturday: 10+ mile run or 30+ mile bike ride (60% effort) Sunday: Rest Monday: Weights (45 mins) Tuesday: 3 mile (fast) Wednesday: Weights (45 mins) Thursday: 3 mile (medium) then 5 x 100m sprints Friday: Weights (30 mins) Basically, I keep the sessions short, with one long cardio session once a week. This way I'm absolutely knackered for 1-2 days, but fresh for most of the week. I never do weights on a Sunday as I always stop too long and it effects me all week! lol Finally, are you doing the right exercise, at the right time? Personally, I can lift more 2 hours after lunch, or 2 hours after tea. Any other times and I'm useless, I've experimented with different meal timings and I just can't lift anything before lunch time. I'm the same with cardio, I can run short distances faster early evening, but run longer distances better in the morning. You might also try to experiment with the timings of your bedroom sessions, lol.

Any fat specifically? in general i try get a 1:1:1 ratio on all fats, but as polys and mono arn't specified on many foods i believe my intake of these may exceed saturated intake. And ofcourse the fact labels arn't exactly precise, so can't be sure.

Fat intake is 50g - In chicken, pasta/rice, mackeral, flaxseeds, olive oil too cook with, fish oil caps and cod liver oil caps. I dont actually get much fat in my diet intentionally, or cook with alot just as it absolutely crushes any calorie deficit thats needed to drop weight. Weight loss isn't that fast, last week i saw none and this week maybe 2lbs ill find out tommorow what its averaging out to be though as the first week is always crazy of course. Thats created using 3x cardio(45mins), 3x weight training and a sedetry life style in general.

Saturated Fat plays an important role in testosterone production. They believe this is why vegetarians often have lower levels of plasma testosterone.

I calorie count everything, so this is just an average and the best gauge i have of course. Ill try actively bumping it up next week and see if that changes things, shall report back next week sunday. Thanks all for input

Agree with this....have you cut saturated fat out of your diet?

It's such a b1tch! I had that when dieting last year due to cals being too low. However, I also experienced erectile dysfunction and a low sex drive from eating low carb for a while (not that low actually; 150g or so a day, but with around 1/2 coming from fruit). Cals were up to 4000 on some days, so I believe it's related to carb intake. Your's seem at a reasonable level tho, so I'd recommend following Nigepoo's advice and having a refeed for one or two days. Other than that, I really don't know. I'm dreading cutting next time around; girlfriend's gonna hate it
