Title and post and neither. It depends. Giving away the result of a fight in thread titled "the fight last night" would be fine and expected, but giving away the end of a film in a thread about film recommendations is wrong, as is talking about the plot of a series that hasn't yet been shown on terrrestrial television.

I suggest not logging on to Muscletalk if u know theres a sporting event that u want to see and are keeping away from the result, especially as every major sporting event that occurs someone always posts a spoiler. Learn from experience HTH

There's no cut-off point for discussion of said sporting event. Just simply don't put the result in the title. What are people finding so hard about understanding that simple point??

Hold on - I'm getting called a ref here and I didn't read any of the topic apart from post 1! How did I manage to ref that one?! LOL Right - here's what I propose: 1) Putting spoilers in title: formal warning 2) Putting spoilers in initial post without warning about spoilers in title: formal warning 3) Putting spoilers in a reply post: encourage to warn at beginning of post, and to post in white recommending that the spolier be highlighted to read Just like this - you see you can hardly read it normally but when you highlight it, it's clear 4) Summarise all in the guidelines any thoughts?

LOL Right - here's what I propose: 1) Putting spoilers in title: formal warning Completely agree. Though personally I'd prefer to see them hanged from the neck 'til dead. 2) Putting spoilers in initial post without warning about spoilers in title: formal warning Completely agree 3) Putting spoilers in a reply post: encourage to warn at beginning of post, and to post in white recommending that the spolier be highlighted to read I think if you're actually reading a thread about a sporting event then surely you've gotto be naive to think someone won't mention the result if it's already taken place? Agree though if it's a dicsussion about a TV programme for example then someone who's already downloaded the whole series blurts out the end without any warning Just like this - you see you can hardly read it normally but when you highlight it, it's clear I think you'll struggle to get people to go as far as changing the font colour so that request may fall on deaf ears. 4) Summarise all in the guidelines Once again agree any thoughts?

I think you may have misunderstood. By "no cut-off" I mean let the discussion on sports continue from the build-up to the game/event, through to the final whistle and beyond. But don't be ruddy daft and open a thread entitled England World Cup Final and be shocked when someone mentions the outcome fo the game But you'd be annoyed if the result of such-and-such event was there in bold as the title. Does that make any more sense.

What are people finding so hard about understanding that simple point?? If England ever win the World Cup, what would you suggest be the decent way of approaching the subject on these boards? Would you suggest a 12hr cut-off point for all those who hadn't watched the final live? Zero mention of it in thread titles? I'm all for common courtesy, but if we start getting annoyed at people for talking about things that have recently happened then it's getting silly. If you don't want to know about recent sporting events, don't go online. never gonna happen but you would just put world cup final (spoilers) easy enough

ORIGINAL: Rosc0PColtrane I agree. The BBC are koonts for this too. Log onto the sport page and there it is in all its glory. A bit of consideration from people on here would go a long way. Some of these fights cost a lot of money to see. dont go on bbc sport then until u have watched the game or match lol

So how long after the even till we can talk about it without spoilers ? Few too many rules i think, like people have said if you dont want to know the result then dont come on the internet especialy forums where people discuss things like recent sporting events. Just my view, its up to James what happens anyway

people still don't sem to be grasping the simplicity of it all. talk about it all you like, we all will, there doesn't need to be a time limit. Just don't put the result in the thread title FFS...how hard is it to grasp
