Cheap easy meals - 20 April 2008 17:35
Maybe there is a thread bout this already but...

How do you guys keep food costs low and prep time low but manage to get a lot of calories/protein etc, any tips? Except tuna sandwhiches (3 years of 3 tins of tuna a day is enough to put me off for longtime)

My shopping isnt cheap as I like steak and have ot every day but from experience the following dishes are cheap:-

Spag Bol:-

Lean mince steak 200g [less than 5% fat]
Plumb Toms
Veggies [carrots, peas, etc,
Garlic
Pepper
Mediterranean Herbs
Pasta
Olive oil

Job done and very cheap.

Also for a few meals you could add a protein flap jack - found here [TIO's journal!]:

Buy your meat in bulk, buy raw ingredients, and you will find you can build quality muscle on a budget.

1 scoop of vanil****
250g fat free natural yoghurt
1 chopped up banana

= quality protein/carb meal for when on the run. Will give you about 30g good protein and 30-40g carbs
