Good luck

With the monthlies, is it for any any type or specific ones? The GF has contacts but dislikes taking them in and out all the time. May be worth sorting her monthlies if she can simply just leave them in for a month!

I see. This is all very interesting to me

Looks like it's a trip to specsavers for me. Can I give them my prescription(s) or do I have to pay another £50 for the tests again?

If its quite a recent prescription I am sure they will except it, they may want to check your eye health though before handing out contact lenses.

Yeah, I got them checked just 4 days ago

Asda looks like they've got some good prices going on (though not sure I want to get 6 monthsworth tbh):

I'd stick with specsavers personally. I woke up one morning with one of my lenses missing, checked the bed and could not see it anywhere, eye felt a little sore but nothing major. Rang them and they took me in immediately, and found the lens folded up under my eyelid. Did not charge me a penny for it. Might have rubbed my eyes hard in the middle of the night without knowing. Only time I ever had a problem with these day/night lenses in about 6 years.

I would not bother with laser eye surgery when the lenses work so well for me and are so little trouble. A friend had the eye surgery and has been left with very dry eyes afterwards. He needs to put drops in them regularly.

Did he have his surgery recently? I know someone else who has had the same effect after surgery but I know many others that have had no bad after-effects at all. Hopefully I'll be lucky.. then again if I get on well with some contacts I may reconsider getting surgery.

Will definately giev specsavers a shot though. Only problem is it's a bit inconvenient to get to but I'll make the effort

LOL it's not actually my fault. I'm not really supposed to be walking much until I get my knee brace. Tore another cruciate ligament you see

Trust me, I'd love to go out, even to specsavers. I'm bored out of my mind with this injury and not being able to walk properly

http://www.usaeyes.org/lasik/faq/lasik-dry-eyes.htm

Seems to be primarily lasik surgery which can exacerbate existing dry eyes. My friend said he had no noticeable dry eye problems before surgery though. He had the lasik surgery.

Maybe if you're lucky a knight in shining armour will give you

a fireman's lift down to specsavers

Knowing me I'll do LOADS of research and then some before I go through with a procedure like that.

Hi YIB,

Just my 50p - to start with I think everyone knows my thoughts on laser surgery....really, really look into it first hun - seriously!!

Second of all - I would always advise seeing your optician before you change brands - purely because different lenses have different pro's and con's and are suitable for different weaknesses in the eyes - if you pick a wrong brand the possibility of failure with that brand is high if they havent been recommended by a professional thus wasting your money!

The best kind of disposable lenses (when I say best I mean healthy for the eye) are Silicone Hydrogel (sometimes advertised as Sih) as they have the highest DK (allowing oxygen to the eye) and really good wettabilty making them mighty comfortable. http://www.allaboutvision.com/contacts/silicone-hydrogel.htm - take a look here!!

Hope this helps chica!

I wear the Night & Day ones as well - pop them in and forget about them for a month.. I sleep in them, shower in them, the lot!

I've moved onto the elite ones now and they are even more comfortable - I honestly can't tell I've got them in and it's nice not having to bugger about with my eyes every day.

When I was using the dailies I couldn't be arsed to put them in every morning.

Highly reccomend specsavers
