Just so you know MS have planned to have ALL Xp system withdrawn from ALL retailers by 30th of June........this year......

Amazingly I, among most find this staggering, however there is a petition going about that has over already 100,000 poeple signed, and its being endorsed by all the big players, (including Dell whcih has seen a BIG uptake over its Linux systems over Vista ones).

Just wondering how many of you have changed swapped over to Vista!?

I'm on vista home edition. Can't say Im blown away by it. It has a few annoying bugs and some major ones.

I went into My computer one day to find my cd drive had disappeared. It was still in device manager showing that It needed updated drivers. No drivers were available and no rollback etc availble either
I went into a tech forum nd googled my drive and it turns out its huge vista bug and nobody knew how to solve it apart from reformatting which I eventually had to do!!

I'm on Vista. Its gash, but I don't mind it too much, every MS OS has had its flaws.

I wouldn't say I preferred it, just thought I'd see if it was any good and don't have any major dramas with it, so it stayed. I despise installing/reinstalling OS's et al. Done it so many hundreds of times I just want to be able to switch on and do what needs doing.

I have been using it for about 9 months, I used XP around my parents and realised I prefer Vista, despite the annoying bugs.

I've got XP but with the look of Vista and there's nothing additional Vista has that I want or can't get on XP anyway. If I wanted a 'Vista experience' I'd remove half the ram and adjust down the clock speed significantly... although that would still lack things like UAC and some of the other issues Vista has.

www.crystalxp.net in case anyone else likes the look of Vista and the dock etc.

XP for me, with many features took out of the install image too

Vista looks nice and windowskey+tab is cool, but it offers nothing except eye candy, worse performance in games and more hard drive space took up.

Tried Vista a few times , each time I have struck a problem that simply could not be ignored

Great if it is making people try Linux

There is always someting better though .................

Some of the models we want at work only come with Vista. So we buy it, wipe it and put XP back on for all our users.

Vista sucks.

Vista treats you as an imbecile that is likely to shaft your machine up at the slightest of errant key-presses.

For some reason , people I know often look to me for guidance on these things - And this is one of the most common things I get asked by people.
I have helped out a couple of people , and they have all been a lot happier with XP (keep in mind though, these people are not very computer literate - otherwise they wouldn't be asking me to do it , would they ?!! )
Withdrawing XP from sale is simply going to push up the circulation of Pirate copies - as XP is what "the people" seem to want
But then there is the school of though that MS are happy to let pirate copies circulate to keep Linux at bay

I cannot get my head around it TBH - Even Microsoft's lost loyal martyrs are choosing to use a 7 year old OS rather than MS's freshest offering - and lets face it , they weren't exactly rushed to get it out !! - How the hell have they done such a bad job ? ...or is it simply a case of Microsoft not being "that good" ? - OK so they were great when there was nothing else viable as an alternative , but now OS X and Linux offer a little competition , the flaws are no longer something people are happy to wait around for solutions for ?

To be fair Ms is to blame as much as 3rd party developers who havent bothered their arses to put the work into making good Vitsa drivers for their products. Then again all of these companies argured back that MS provided them with nothing and that the launch and timing of Vista was a complete surprise to them when it was annouced, and they simply didnt recieve any time nor support from MS to sort it.
