Tell me honestly if you prefer that track you posted a link to over DWYCK by Gang Starr.

Yeah of course - it's a well crafted record. Lyrically it follows allegedly a true life story. It backed up by a haunting melody that captures the desperation of the subject.

Sticking 'drink a cup of tea' at the end of a sentence coz thats the only thing you can think of that rhymes with the eeeee eeeee eeeee stuff leaves me cold. All over a predictable drum machine beat.

I dont think he worked that hard for that royalty cheque

He managed to get butter and tea into his rap but I think he missed a trick. Why not make it a full lunch with ...

"I cut my bread thin like salamiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii"

Cannot find the vid, here's Lord Finesse and Percee recreating a legendary battle from the late 1980's

Bonafide digging in the crates classic:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ah1aHaPHfcM

Erule is a very talented emcee. Pi55es over biggie, who was competent, just lucky to have good marketing.

Another classic, Souls of Mischief '93 til Infinity. One of the best tunes ever recorded

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNHRUzXuq6A

They also tried to release cab fare, but never got clearance to use a sample from the TV show Taxi. There's a few 12's of it floating about, worth their weight in gold

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_4bCE8fJDE

Another very well told story by a group called The Coup

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPr1JLoYLW4

Amazing what you can find when you look past what you're told to like. Biggie and Tupac weren't bad, they released some good stuff. There's a whole world better out there for real hip hop heads!

Oh best Biggie tune, Party & Bullsh*t, even if the lyrics are mostly bullsh*t:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7mmAtPGcgA

I remember Biggie getting called out by his mum who took offence to the lyrics in Juicy, the whole "...wondered why Christmas missed us, Birthdays was the worst days, now we drink Champagne when we thurstay (thirsty)" nice rhyme!

Didn't realise this was on youtube, Percee P on the seminal Lung Collapsing Lyrics. Simple funky productions with simply the best lyricist flipping verbal gymnastics all over the beat. Even Pharoemonch is in awe, and he was a quality rapper.

Youtube is legendary. Lord Finesse and Percee P in what I used to believe was just urban legend. The 1989 battle, here's part one, the others are there too
