xweighted -> Deadlift reps? (Apr. 21 2008 22:21:51)

Is it better to just rep out deadlifts as with any other exercise?

I was thinking that as the most important part of the movement is the expolsive power needed to get the weight off the floor it might be more beneficial to let go of the bar each rep, stand up, short pause and then start again.

Effectively doing 1rep maxes but not with the full 1rep max weight.

Any thoughts.

Thanks

the weight should die at the bottom of each rep.. hence the 'dead'lift.

Thanks, so there is no need to stand up as long as you let the weight sit on the floor and 'die' in between reps?

yep, personnaly i tend to stick in the rep range of 1-3 with any considerable weight as i find this most beneficial. if doing higher reps with lower weight concentrate on form and power (speed deadlifts) these are used to build power from the floor if this is a week part of the lift.
