I want to start doing unfueld cardio in the morning. Since this will be before my gym opens is there any alternative to running on the street? Last time I did this, i had pain in my knees and it was literally too painful to run again for another 2 weeks. I don't have any room to put exercise bike etc so does anyone have any suggestions? Cheers.

skipping, swimming, rowing also if you have pain in your knees have you been to a running shop and had your running style analysed?

I haven't been analysed no, not sure where i could get that done. Will have a search on google but have never seen any "running shops" round here. It has to be something I can do at home/outside. I'm doing it before work so swimming/gym work is out. skipping sounds like a good choice. Would you simply do 45 mins worth of skipping? How do i judge this to be steady state or not? Would this be equivilent of doing 45 mins running fat loss/cardio fitness wise?

I think it would be near impossible to do 45mins continuous skipping. I would base it more on a HIIT routine if you choose skipping cos its f*ucking knackering!

Buy a bike and ride around a park or spin-cycle to use in the house?

I'm guessing you'd have to go on quite a longer bike ride though to get the same effects as a 45 minute jog? Anyway i could compare or would it just be trial and error. I'm just thinking a bike ride would be much easier than a jog.

I'm just thinking a bike ride would be much easier than a jog. its supposedly 3 times longer on a bike ie if you run 5miles you would have to cycle 15miles to get the same benefit, and im guessing it would also depend on the intensity,if you do a 45min jog then a 45min bike ride should be about the same.

Could you cycle to the gym? Bike would be good mate plus you could do steady state on it and sprints.
