I was talking to a guy down the gym today, he was actually training with someone I know and see down there quite often so we got talking about routines etc...he certainly had a decent physique to say the least, anyway, for the past two years he hasn't trained shoulders at all - theory being this..deadlifts, pull-ups, bench press, dips all hammer the shoulders, so if you're doing back and chest on seperate days your shoulders(front and rear delts) are being hit twice anyway! Makes sence if you think about it... Is it just a 'mindset' that we feel we must seperate our shoulders?

It's true to s certain extent but it depends on the individual, some people need to hardly any work, other need a lot, some people should even avoid overhead work (for certain periods of time). There is no single exercise prescription for everyone. That's why I have a job!

Take any advice from 'a guy down the gym' with a big pinch of salt. A whole grit bin full, in fact

A whole grit bin full, in fact yeah usually i do, but driving home i was thinking about what he was saying, he wasn't a typical 'i know what's what' type of guy who you usually raise your eyebrows to and walk away, he spoke sence in my book, I think if you're someone who is struggling to fit all body parts into a week then maybe something can be taken from this - a three day split for example..

as said above, bench dips etc will work front some side delts, and any type of row should work rear delts, but if you need to target them then work them directly.

I get enough work on front delts by doing dumbell flys. I've found I only need shoulder press for middle delts and maybe lateral raises. my rear delts are non exsistant at the moment so Im hoping that back day will work this out. Overall I can get by with only 2 exercises for shoulders, so dont really need a day to themselves

i cant remember the name of the 3 delts but i think it is hard to hit the middle one without some specific shoulder lifts.
