I have a prob with my xbox 360. Basically, it seems to be working, I can hear the game starting and everything, but I'm getting no picture on the AV channel. It was working fine last week, then just stopped working all of a sudden. i've only had the xbox for 3 weeks so I doubt its a technical fault. Any ideas?

No mate, its a 32" philips lcd, about 3 years old at this stage. have a hd tv in the bedroom but didn't try it yet. I checked the hd setting on the cable and its set to tv. So far as I can see, no cables or anything were adjusted. I checked all cables for damage (we have a chincheela that has a habit of eating through cables) and there is no visible damage, all seems fine.

But it worked fine for 2 or 3 weeks, can't understand why it would just stop.

ORIGINAL: Dan Nukem But it worked fine for 2 or 3 weeks, can't understand why it would just stop. That's the whole problem of late with 360's. Since they lowered the price, a lot more units are failing. Could be because they have cut the costs of the components and are using cheaper parts. I was "this" close to buying a 360 at one point (the modding potential was a big seller in this), but there are too many stories of them failing or death lights popping up, that I think I'll save up and when the deal is good, go for a PS3. My PS1 and 2 have thankfully never failed me, and that's with a mod chip in both after a year or so of owning them. Did you buy it brand new? Get them to replace it if it's within the first month and don't take no or "we'll repair it" for an answer. If it's second hand, best to check out some 360 forums and see if anyone else has a cheaper alternative. No.............no no.............no no no................no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no, the fail rate has been slashed since the newer 175w version came out.... by the way..how do you think Sony lwoered its price on the PS3...if you wanna look for poeple skimping on HW look towards them...in the corner...cutting stuff off. Dan you need to try it on another screen before you do anything, doesnt matter how good your screen is they always fit duff connections into them half ased soldered on and made out of tin.

I love the replies about getting a PS3 lol Even better is the poster who doesnt know what he's on about. Have you changed any settings in the dashboard area of the 360? Are the leads all connected up correctly? Are you feeding the lead straight into the Tv or via another source? Are you using scart or Cable leads?

I was home too late to switch it to the other tv, but this morning I put it through the scart adaptor instead of directly through the sockets. Same result - sound but no picture.
