What do you mean you used to be able to take oats but not anymore?
Cornflour isn't really a substitute for oats- they are very different in terms of insulin response and GI... supposedly corn flour is very similar/the same as WMS- so good for PWO

cornflour tastes like crap btw

Just as an aside ... I was reading about cornflakes last night, you know as you do...I didn't realise how high on the GI scale they were. Hmmmm maybe I ought to stick with me oats.

Yes don't we all dear, but I for one do not wish to return to the proportions in my before pic!

Cornflakes have a glycaemic load of 21 and grapenuts are 15 according to my list. Can you believe I was actually reading this in bed last night. Yes folks - that's about as exciting as it gets in my bed

Anyways! back on topic ... we've made some suggestions for alternatives to wheat and oats. Did I say Rice Crispies? ... I've started eating those occasionally now for breakfast.

eddie, fiona

my current carb sources are: rice and cornflakes, potatoes. i have sandwiches at the work canteen - hot pannini's which are white bread.
im going to start eating linseed burgen bread, see if it makes my IBS worse or not.

at the moment im taking calcium tablets from boots and they have reduced the stomach cramps/urge to go to the toilet about 70% for me, its still trial and error with how many tabs to take a day, calcium is the best thing i've taken for my IBS-D.

I would have thought white bread paninis would aggrevate your IBS more than anything. White bread has a lot of gluten in it. Are there any other options you can eat at the canteen? .. or can you take your own food in?

Burgen is wheat bread mate, also paninis are gluten filled as is white bread

Just get some potato bread or other gluten free flour and make some yourself

take in homemade gluten free protein bars, easily done mate

just prepare yourself better

Can't comment on Amaranth, not had it.
Millet porridge is easy, make it like oat porridge. My dad used to feed me on this as a tot!
Similar with Quinoa, make it into a porridge.

Taste wise, I would prefer millet.
