You need the heart rate best for loosing fat. I believe its between 50-60 ( i may be wrong though) but if its too intense its cardio and not fat burn.

yeah thats right mate, i done it in sport science class

50-60% mhr = fat burning zone
60-70% mhr = aerobic
70-80% mhr = anerobic

something like the above

yeah not a nice post no need to call someone dumb, should be saying what it is insted of slagging people off, we are all here to help each other out and learn aint we?
its different for every person, depends on age, weight, fittness.

lil article

What is the Optimum heart rate for burning fat.
The optimum heart rate zone for burning fat is 60% - 70% of your maximum heart rate threshold. Your maximum heart rate threshold has been established to be approximately 220 heart beats per minute (bpm) less your age.

For example if you are 40 years old, your maximum heart rate is 220b bpm less 40 giving 180 bpm.

The next step is to workout the different percentages, based on your maximum heart rate. In this example, 60% of your maximum heart rate is 108 bpm and 70% is 126 bpm. Therefore the optimum heart rate zone for burning fat is between 108 126 beats per minute.

Exercising in the fat burning heart rate zone will promote the burning of fat because the body draws on fat stores and combines them with oxygen to produce fuel for your muscles. If your heart rate falls below the optimum heart rate of 108 in this example, the body is not working hard enough to be of any benefit. If your exercise is too intense and your heart rate exceeds 126 bpm for an extended period of time, the body draws on glycogen (carbohydrates) instead of fat, because glycogen is stored in the muscles and is easier to access and burn. Therefore, you lose the benefit of burning fat.

cheers col , think ive worked this out right, im 17 so max rate would be 203 , 60% of 203 is 121 and 70% is 142 so anywhere between that?

any type of cardio will be ok if your heart rate like that beats a min, constantly for 40-60mins (fat burning)

probs get tird skipping quicker because its hard so its more fittness training, so heart beating quicker, what boxers do it for. endurance

The reason fat is burned in greater %ages in lower intensity exercise is because it can meet demand, i.e your not burning that many calories compared, the TEE after will be much reduced and you will overall burn less energy thus overall burning less fat in total.

running at 140bpm for 30 mins will burn more fat overall than running under 126bpm for 30 minutes.

you may find this useful:

Longer duration, lower intensity aerobic exercise tends to impact muscle growth
negatively and has less of an effect on fat loss. Though you may burn calories, this type
of aerobic exercise derives the majority of the calories burned from lean tissue and less
from fat. This is exactly what you don't want.

To minimize cardio's negative effects on muscle growth you must schedule your aerobic
sessions as distant in time from your weight training as possible. This means DO NOT do
both cardio and weight training in the same workout. Don't do cardio immediately before
you weight train and don't do cardio immediately after you weight train. This is how most
people do it and it's completely wrong and detrimental to optimal muscle growth.

Your cardio exercises should be done approximately 8 to 12 hours before
or after you weight train. Never do cardio immediately before or immediately after your workout.

This means if you train in the morning you do your cardio at night. If you train at night
then do your cardio in the morning. And to take it a step further, you should preferably
do your cardio on your non weight training days
