Is there a proven supplement that helps improve memory and concentration? I know there's some evidence to support Omega 3's benefits on this, although i've been taking them for years and can't say they've helped much. I still forget things all the time and sometimes find it difficult to concentrate on something that i really want to absorb.

Just wondering what supplements anyone has taken, or have heard of, which may help?

Thanks...

I like creatine and piracetam as nootropics.

Caffeine also has a great effect on me for concentration (and theoretically memory).

The three I use are:-
2,000iu/day of EPA+DHA from fish oil caps/oily fish.
5,000iu/day of Vitamin D3 as I don't get any sun on my body.
300mg/day of magnesium as amino acid chelate or 450mg/day magnesium as oxide to prevent anxiety.

Is that in a specific product? 3 separate products in pill form?

I'd heard of piracetam actually. Seems to be good stuff, and backed up by studies. Where do you get yours from? Seems to be more widely available in the US than in the UK.

Theres also one that will say that a varied diet, good rest and keeping fit will help you concentrate and memorize things better. That's me this time :)

I got some Primaforce Piracetam off ebay for £19. You can get it from bulkpowders on the cheap too.

I don't know exactly what the effects would be, but caffeine is a stimulant so i wouldn't think the effects would be anything good if you drink a lot of it regularly. You may grow a dependency on it. Everything in moderation though.

Can you take it before bed? It talks about aiding the sleep cycle, but also increasing energy. Can you mix it with protein, or should it be had on it's own?

With long term regular coffee drinking, the effects lessen as your body adapts. So drink coffee intermittently to get the most from it.

Ah interesting thread,
I find my concentration is lacking both during studying and poker.

I have 1 cup of coffee a day, seems to wake me up nicely then i switch to decafe and i just love the flavour of sweet coffee.
Omega 3 havent done anything to me that noticable.

Green tea didn't either.

Can you take it before bed? Piracetam isnt really a sleep aid but enhances cognition and memory. It talks about aiding the sleep cycle, but also increasing energy. Can you mix it with protein, or should it be had on it's own? Ideally on an empty stomach

Im sure the guys who use this stuff will be able to answer more technical questions as I myself just got this stuff and have yet to give it a go. Btw if you go for powder form then be warned it tastes far more worse then CEE and best to use a capping kit. Also its ideal to stack with choline citrate and/or ALCAR to increase acetylcholine production which apparently pircacetam depletes if used on its own.

Is it true that after you stop taking piracetam the effects are lost?

Don't take my word for it but I think it makes sense that it would. What I'd want to know is if someone can really become too reliant on Piracetam (needing it very often for long periods of time)? and if the more often you take the more tolerant you become?

I think this topic should move to supplements.

I'm no expert in brain chemistry, but that's not usually the case with things of this nature is it? And studies i've read don't seem to suggest any long term issues... but i guess nothing is certain. A question for medical experts methinks.

I think the jury is still out on piracetam. I've got some sitting in my draw but tbh I'm not convinced it's worth trying. It's hard to take so many supps when you're as lazy as I am. I'm suffering from suppapathy.
