Just been banned from my gym - Apr. 25 2008 23:33:37

As I was leaving the changing rooms last night I noticed a number of large ladies gathered outside the studio entrance at my local Fitness First. When I arrived at the reception I asked "Is there Weight Watchers here tonight?" The receptionist looked at me confused and replied "No. Why?" I said "No reason. I was just curious"
When I arrived at my local Fitness First this evening I was approached by the General Manager who asked if he could have a few words. He continued to tell me he couldn't allow me to train at the gym any longer. Apparently, the girl who teaches the Pole Dancing Class that the large ladies were attending, had overheard my comments and was upset and offended by what I said. I informed that my QUESTION was not directed at her nor did I look towards her when I asked it. He continued to state that he could not have one of his members of staff upset and was not prepared to let me train there any longer.
Now, here is where the plot thickens. My partner is a Personal Trainer at this club and has had a problem with the Pole Dancing Instructor (P.D.I.) since she started. About 10 weeks ago, I was entering the lounge at the club with my partner and was joking with her and the P.D.I. heard what I said and turned and kicked me. By the way, what I said was nothing to do with the P.D.I. just friendly banter between me and the Mrs. I was a little annoyed by it and raised it as in issue with my partner however she urged me not to say anything as she was still working her trial period and didn't want it to jeopardise her role there.
When I got the impression earlier this evening that the General Manager was not going to change his mind, I reluctantly raised the subject of "the kick" to which he suddenly changed his tune. I asked how the P.D.I. would react to a visit from the Police because what she did could be considered assault. He didn't like what I said however commented I could train there tonight and he would take the matter up further with the P.D.I. and also speak to head office to see what his rights are where I am concerned.
I am bothered about causing ripples for my partner in already unsettled waters however I don't see that I have done anything that is terribly wrong. I finally outlined to the General Manager before I left that this has more to do with an internal squabble with his staff than what I actually said. And, that if somebody else had said what I did last night, the P.D.I. would not have bought this whole episode to his attention.

arent you on loads of promotional material for fitness first too?
sounds really harsh, i'd kick up a fuss, then leave and go to a new gym as should your partner.
LOL at a bunch of overweight women going to pole dancing lessons for fitness, i know its not easy but whats wrong with the treadmill/rower/bike!?

Are you banned from the whole thing or just the gym?
If you're only banned from the gym then turn up at the pole dancing lessons instead and show that b1tch how its done lol

Sounds ridiculous to me,surely just a simple explanation from you to the offended lady,explaining that nothing you said was directed at her.
As for the kicking well thats totally out of order,i would have kicked her back.

im suprised he can ban you for that. My manager at a fitness first was telling me about some problem customers and it certainly didnt sound easy to ban people

I saw his 'comment' as a modest question.
If the P.D.I was sexy then fair play, she can complain about misunderstandings, however, the kick would mean a few shows.

The comment was aimed at you mate,as im know fatty.
Jokes aside lol,but dont you think its a little harsh banning him as he has not actually insulted no one directly,and i think he hasnt indirectly to be fair.
Hes the victim here having been kicked imo.
