None of the fat people much care, and nobody should care about comments like this. I hate it when you get people all high and mighty that try and make you feel small just for making a harmless gag

i was banned from a fitness first for arguing about my right to use promotional day passes (the manager said i could only use one but it didnt state only one could be used on the pass) I contacted their head office and ended up being given a free month because i was right hehe

This PDI kicked you for making a joke with your partner? Is this person male or female? Female I assume, else you'd have smashed him in by now.

One to tempt you into thinking about changing it yourself, and the other to seal the deal..." Hmm, turns out I'm not good at making jokes before 9am on saturdays! lol Does seem like overly harse treatment - fair enough question to start with (though I'm guessing there was a bit of inflection in the way you said it!?) - you could of been enquiring for your mum...

First of all I was going to say that it does come across that you had noticed the ladies as you mention them to begin with. Why did you ask if there was a WW class anyway?? The PDI does sound like a strange one. Big D quote:
LOL at a bunch of overweight women going to pole dancing lessons for fitness, i know its not easy but whats wrong with the treadmill/rower/bike!? Sorry but I don't like your attitude. ANY form of exercise is better than none. At least these ladies have chosen something that they obviously enjoy and if you enjoy exercise then you're more than likely to want to keep doing it. I hope to high heaven you're not or never do become a PT. Your poor clients would be bored to death. quote:
None of the fat people much care, and nobody should care about comments like this. I hate it when you get people all high and mighty that try and make you feel small just for making a harmless gag If the comment was indeed aimed at the women then this is not a harmless gag at all. Do you not realise that many overweight people will not venture into a gym because of comments like that and attitudes that make them feel even more insecure about themselves. quote:
feel sorry for the poles... they come all this way only to be jumped on by large ladies and have clammy legs wrapped round them Oh I'd hate to see the mirrors in your gym everytime you look in them, I bet they so want to crack in pain I have said it before but many members on here slag off those who don't exercise or don't look as good as you think another human being should look. Those who then decide to do something about it are then also slagged off. Can't you make up your minds? They're damned if they do and damned if they don't. Please stop and think before you make comment whether on MT or in real life.

ORIGINAL: spider-man As I was leaving the changing rooms last night I noticed a number of large ladies gathered outside the studio entrance at my local Fitness First. When I arrived at the reception I asked "Is there Weight Watchers here tonight?" The receptionist looked at me confused and replied "No. Why?" I said "No reason. I was just curious" When I arrived at my local Fitness First this evening I was approached by the General Manager who asked if he could have a few words. He continued to tell me he couldn't allow me to train at the gym any longer. Apparently, the girl who teaches the Pole Dancing Class that the large ladies were attending, had overheard my comments and was upset and offended by what I said. I informed that my QUESTION was not directed at her nor did I look towards her when I asked it. He continued to state that he could not have one of his members of staff upset and was not prepared to let me train there any longer. Now, here is where the plot thickens. My partner is a Personal Trainer at this club and has had a problem with the Pole Dancing Instructor (P.D.I.) since she started. About 10 weeks ago, I was entering the lounge at the club with my partner and was joking with her and the P.D.I. heard what I said and turned and kicked me. By the way, what I said was nothing to do with the P.D.I. just friendly banter between me and the Mrs. I was a little annoyed by it and raised it as in issue with my partner however she urged me not to say anything as she was still working her trial period and didn't want it to jeopardise her role there. When I got the impression earlier this evening that the General Manager was not going to change his mind, I reluctantly raised the subject of "the kick" to which he suddenly changed his tune. I asked how the P.D.I. would react to a visit from the Police because what she did could be considered assault. He didn't like what I said however commented I could train there tonight and he would take the matter up further with the P.D.I. and also speak to head office to see what his rights are where I am concerned. I am bothered about causing ripples for my partner in already unsettled waters however I don't see that I have done anything that is terribly wrong. I finally outlined to the General Manager before I left that this has more to do with an internal squabble with his staff than what I actually said. And, that if somebody else had said what I did last night, the P.D.I. would not have bought this whole episode to his attention. sounds like you've hit the nail on the head. what did you say to get kicked, just out of curiosity?

I'm with Kitty. Although it all sounds as described - a little internal BS/politics going on - at the same time the OP does not paint to great a picture of himself. Namely he's prone to putting his foot in his mouth by being a little outspoken. I'd get my arse back to the managers office and apologise all round, keep the trap shut BUT also make sure the biz between the PDI etc is also cleared up. A case of 'me now quiet..., so sorry, shall we start again?'.

I agree he's been a bit out of line saying it whilst in the gym - if he wanted to say it...should have kept it to himself till he was at home / out of gym with his gf. However, does anyone else get the impression the PDI who complained is one of those bolshy ones who thinks they have a right to rule the world and tell everyone how thiey should think, what they should do etc.? You know...the ones that seem to have no personality, just 100% bossy?

There seems to be one rule for one and one for another. I'm sure she will say that when she kicked me it was a "friendly kick." I didn't complain to the club about that when it happened because my partner asked me to keep quiet. So, the P.D.I. can dish out what she feels is friendly banter (but is actually ASSAULT) and get away with it. Despite my explaining to the G.M. that my question was NOT DIRECTED at her, he has decided to ban me. My partner text me earlier to say that on the reception desk it reads "DO NOT ALLOW ACCESS TO ZOE'S BOYFRIEND DEAN!!!" I have tried to call Head Office this morning however they do not work on Saturday. I managed to obtain the direct telephone number of the Managing Director of Fitness First (John Gamble) and have left a voice message outlining what has happened and asked if he or a member of his direct staff would contact me to discuss this matter immediately. quote:

wow, keen or what mate I would be tempted to go down there...talk to the snizzling little git again. banning you without telling you, after saying he'd go away and investigate, speaks of being a snizzling little git.
