you could turn it around and say you were genuinely asking if there was a weight watchers meeting because your mum want's to go. And your disgusted with the response you got.

Take it up with head office mate, and ask them how you getting more business through their door has resulted in you getting banned.

SM, why did you ask about a weight watchers class? Who's going to stop you going in? AWould they call the police. Other than you not wanting to make things uncomfortable for Zoe, I'd still go. If they persist ask for your ban in writing explaining full reasons so that you have a record of it, until you have received that then claim your membership should remain open

LOL at a bunch of overweight women going to pole dancing lessons for fitness, i know its not easy but whats wrong with the treadmill/rower/bike!? Sorry but I don't like your attitude. ANY form of exercise is better than none. At least these ladies have chosen something that they obviously enjoy and if you enjoy exercise then you're more than likely to want to keep doing it. I hope to high heaven you're not or never do become a PT. Your poor clients would be bored to death. I have said it before but many members on here slag off those who don't exercise or don't look as good as you think another human being should look. Those who then decide to do something about it are then also slagged off. Can't you make up your minds? They're damned if they do and damned if they don't. Please stop and think before you make comment whether on MT or in real life. LOL first off kitty, this seems to becoming a regular trend with you, if anyone has ANY comment to make about overweight people or even women you take the ultra defensive line which usually results in you attacking members. granted my comment was not worded the best, but i was in fact actually passing comment at the concept of it, as i said whats wrong with the treadmill/bike/rower etc? variety is the spice of life and all that and any form of exercise is better than none at all, but in reality is half an hour at a pole dancing class going to have the same effect/calorie output as half an hour on the treadmill, it seems to me as just another novel idea for fitness clubs to draw women in and take their money, i had no idea you could have pole dancing lessons at a gym. as for the boring PT comment, fortunately for any prospective clients i'm not and have no intentions of becoming a PT, i do still have clients though that benefit more from my results driven attitude, but they're more nutrition based. it would be highly hypocritical of me to post slagging overweight women off for going to the effort of losing weight, condiering my background studying health and nutrition, so as i say i was merely comenting on the concept of yet another fad exercise regime.

Yes, it is because as a board we are trying to stop any negative comments about overweight people, so I do not apologise for carrying out my mod duties. quote:

Yes it possibly could. Walking on a treadmill may only burn less then 200 calories and not work the upper body. Think about what muscles are recruited into pole dancing and the effort required to do it. If they enjoy it they're more than likely to come back for more. If it is a fad what's wrong with it if it's gets people out and active?

Dawn this is a question but how can very overweight women do the moves on the pole when even skinny women cant do most of it? Its a very hard skill that requires lots of strength and a good amount of hard work for a long time. How would it be classed as exercise when most if not all the moves that would burn any significant amount of calories would be impossible for the vast majority of untrained and trained people to do

Namely he's prone to putting his foot in his mouth by being a little outspoken. I'd get my arse back to the managers office and apologise all round, keep the trap shut BUT also make sure the biz between the PDI etc is also cleared up. A case of 'me now quiet..., so sorry, shall we start again?'. he has nothing to apolgise about mate. If anything should be apolgised to

Totally understand that TIO but what fun it would be trying, I can just see these women having such a laugh and giggle and enjoying trying it. I'm sure I couldn't even manage it but in my current state anyone would look at me and just call me obese, they can't see my hidden muscle so what's to say these women don't have any too? I remember trying a hoola hoop for the first time in years, can you believe it broke a sweat out in me because I was forever bending down to pick the darn thing up. Beginners classes for pole dancing might just involve girating around the pole, wrapping one leg round it and swinging the body round, it's all movement helping with flexibility and possibly helping spice up their sex life which will burn more calories too

Before this starts getting out of hand, with negative comments going back-and-forth about bodyweight, I would just like to say that my question was in no way meant to be hurtful towards the P.D.I., or anybody for that matter. I would certainly apologise to her, even if in this instance, it has been taken the wrong way. I used to be quite plump myself as a teenager and received plenty of jibes from kids about my weight which contributed to my suffering with an eating disorder for many years. What I don't agree with is the manner in which the G.M. has gone about this and didn't even ask to hear my side of the story. I must stress I was very reluctant to mention the kicking incident but I felt I had no choice given his bolchy attitude.

But from my personal opinion i dont think that PDI could take them to the next level, she doesnt appear to be either very CV fit or strong. all ways of getting people moving and grooving and upping their activity levels are good in my book anyway. I just like my PT's to look and act the part, i.e. my teacher is cut to the bone, does every single move without resting and lifts weights and she motivates the hell out of me

She does appear to struggle a little in a couple of moves (not watched the whole thing due to slow connection) so I agree with you, but for pure recreational exercise then maybe going to the 'next level' in this is not necessary. If I did this and wanted to take it further I'd go somewhere more private for lessons.

But ive learned not to judge on looks alone anymore. My other half used to go to classes, and i once saw one of the ladies that taught the class. She was 'chubby' and looked very out of shape indeed, i made a joke to my other half about it, but she ignored me, and i soon learned why. At a later date, i watched her teach the class, and my lord, i have never seen a women of that size move as fast, or have as much stamina as that teacher had. Her class was full of people who were 'cut' and 'slim' but she wore them all down to nothing without breaking a sweat of her own! I was amazed, and thats difficult to do, you so rarely see things like that! When the class let out, i was just exiting the gym, the women came out red in the face, sweating through their clothes, and out pops the instructor looking like she had sat down for the whole hour! It turns out, she simply cannot seem to lose the chubb. She is very fit indeed and had a good diet, ive only ever met two women like this. But as James himself has said before, they do exist! Just felt the need to share this, it totally changed my perspective of women.

Ahem! as i said of they can act it, then no problem edited: to also say that i base my opinion of the PDI based on the fact that i did infact date a pole dancer once
