I had read it mate, and i did realise what you meant lol. It wasent an attack of any sort, I just thought it was an interesting story, and wanted to share.

Whoops

Sorry dude, i owe you an apology i misunderstood the context of what you said. It was a good story nonetheless

Another good example is Sammo Hung, hes not exactly skinny but he does move rather fast and has amazing strength

For the record, i think the pole dancing classes are a bit of a scam myself. But if it gets people exercising, then it isnt all bad. Its disappointing how people often need 'gimmicks' to get them into an exercise regime, leave them wide open to semi-scam fads. If i was asked, i would always just recommend cardio and a good diet over classes such as that. Which dont seem very intense, and i dont believe scale very well. Whereas with a treadmill or a rower, you set your own pace and can improve as much as you would like.

Bottom line is though, if its getting people healthier, then i cannot really knock it! And for some it may be a welcome change from the humdrum treadmills. Which admitadlt bore me half to death at times.

Lol i added the edit a little to late!

Your dead right, i can fall asleep on the treadmill, even with metal music blasting in my ears. It is nice to mix it up at times, ive been known to play badminton so as to escape the bore that is the treadmill!

And no problem TIO, its all good.

And back on topic we go!

LOL first off kitty, this seems to becoming a regular trend with you, if anyone has ANY comment to make about overweight people or even women you take the ultra defensive line which usually results in you attacking members.

Yes, it is because as a board we are trying to stop any negative comments about overweight people, so I do not apologise for carrying out my mod duties.

quote:

but in reality is half an hour at a pole dancing class going to have the same effect/calorie output as half an hour on the treadmill, it seems to me as just another novel idea for fitness clubs to draw women in and take their money, i had no idea you could have pole dancing lessons at a gym.

Yes it possibly could. Walking on a treadmill may
only burn less then 200 calories and not work the upper body. Think about what muscles are recruited into pole dancing and the effort required to do it. If they enjoy it they're more than likely to come back for more.

If it is a fad what's wrong with it if it's gets people out and active?

thats fair enough, but i doubt mod duties stretches to being ultra defensive and attacking board members, for even the slightest comments.

i wouldnt mind seeing some studies in relation to fat buring at a pole dancing class in cmparison to half an hour on the treadmill, forgive me if i'm wrong but i'm assuming there is only 1 pole, hence LOTS of time out, waiting for a go on the pole.

as for your last comment, i fully agree, if a fad gets people active its a benefit but i dont think it should be encouraged over more efficient forms of exercise, no matter how boring they are!

yes he did, a page or two back...
he asked as his mum was thinking about joining (or along those lines)

Sounds like a massive over reaction to it all, and im sorry but that pdi is awful. My urban dance instructor was ten times better than that, and that would break a sweat! lol

I've got to admit Kitty, and meant in the nicest possible way as we have no past animosity with each other whatsoever, but you do come across sometimes as a little quick on the trigger with any issue that can in any way be dubbed as anti-female or anything along those lines. Though I understand exactly the kind of stupid comments on here you are trying to help eradicate, sometimes being too vigilant in my view can actually have worse effect, and may even opened yourself up to people deliberately trying to get a rise out of you!

What was the "joke" you had with your partner that the PDI overheard ?

x2

My partner and I had just finished training together and she had playfully criticised me about my last set and ended her sentence with "MEN!" to which I responded "WOMEN?"

She kicked you for saying that??? That's the sort of thing a schoolgirl would do to get your attention

I think both sides of this argument are reading too much into things

On the surface to me, reading he whole thread a banning seems very harsh. The manager has handled this badly. He intended to ban you without listening to you first.

perhaps suggest to the manager that you tal in person with this pole dancer to explain what you saw: a number of larger women together, you wanted to know if there was a weightwatchers meeting (as you have a friend interested in joining) & no offence was meant

variety is the spice of life and all that and any form of exercise is better than none at all, but in reality is half an hour at a pole dancing class going to have the same effect/calorie output as half an hour on the treadmill, it seems to me as just another novel idea for fitness clubs to draw women in and take their money, i had no idea you could have pole dancing lessons at a gym.

Just found this. This is the actual P.D.I. in question. Make your own mind up . . .

Pole Dancing Routine

Chair Dancing Routine

Tease & Tone @ Fitness First, Wolverhampton

that is quite simply not exercise.

it lacks any kind intensity or strenth components.

and it's my birthday so i'm right!

Because he was being sarcastic with regard to the larger ladies and now doesnt like the way the management has over reacted...
Totally unnecessary and way over the top reaction but to me sounds like you were taking the piss.

That is precisely how it is and is not a massive fabrication of the truth.

you could turn it around and say you were genuinely asking if there was a weight watchers meeting because your mum want's to go. And your disgusted with the response you got.
