I have imported stevia containing greens and they have been charged at customs and let through. Perhaps if it was a tub of stevia they would stop it, but it's one of about 30 ingredients in the greens so they wouldn't notice.

I agree they couldn’t possibly list all countries laws and rules. But they DO have a list of banned substances for various different countries: http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/help/interproduct.htm Dairy and egg products probably make up 90% or the bulk of all supplement products, so why should they omit this information and list specialist products like 'KAVA KAVA' or '5-HTP'. By omitting the fact that dairy and egg products are banned from import to the UK then the information they do provide is misleading. I know that the consumer should be aware of the rules before placing an order. But if a website is targeting UK consumers via Google adwords and via UK websites then they should take more responsibility to inform customers that ordering any dairy / egg products from their website are actually banned from import to the UK. Why take orders from Uk customers knowing for well that the product you are about to ship them are banned? Why not take the time to update 1 line of text on a web page (about 5 minutes work) to warn Uk customers about dairy/egg products? Is it because that placing such a warning would prevent 90% of their products being sold to UK customers? I dont buy the fact that they dont have many UK customers!

They might have 10,000 UK customers...but they have shipped like 3m orders in the US In that case if 10,000 Uk customers spend on average £100 then that means they would make 10 million pounds worth of sales from UK customers! Even if they made a 10th of this (ie. 1 million pounds) then you can easily see why they refuse to warn UK customers. They would really feel a drop in sales!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to MT Best you don't post things twice as it's caused a disjointed discussion. I feel your pain and apologies for some of the silly negative responses from some of our members. How people expect the lay public to know about these things is LOLable TBH. People want to be go onto the net and order their supps, simple as. It's not like you're ordering drugs, or even dodgy compounds. BBing.com possibly shoudl have been aware of this, but TBH it doesn;t arise that often as many people order their supps from the states with no problems. You were simply unlucky. Customs were just being prats and yes I do feel they are responsible. While the rules may be there to protect our farmers - it's pretty bloody obvious you're just a lad wanting to order a few supps to aid your healthy lifestyle. Pedantic pricks - and the exact negativity in society that's causing people to be so pissed off today. Order from one of our sponsors and you'll get great service

Thanks for your kinds words. I guess I am just really peed off because this is the very first time I have ever ordered bb suplement products from the internet and it has been the worst experience! Imagine paying all your hard earned cash and Fedex deliver you an empty box! It is like something out of a comic sketch! I am really peed off with bodybuilding.com because I sent them an email asking them to update their website so that nobody else fall prey and they just sent back a message saying: "We try really hard to keep up with international customs laws but as they change so frequently that it is extremely hard for us to make sure that we have the most up to date information at all times. Once again we appologize for the hassle." "Customs can be a crazy hassle. Thanks for spreading the word! We appreciate it man!" "Have a great day!" yeah right, thanks! I'm gonna have real great day! And no mention of updating their website to warn other potential victims!

I am very surprised they seized it and are possibly going to destroy it. I have to so I've ordered plenty from BB.com in the past and they've always been great with any problems so maybe try another rep there or the boards to complain. Have never had anything seized either, a couple of odd customs charges but thats all, seems a little extreme..If you're adament to order branded protein from the states try ebay as a few sellers there resend if gets seized.. Sorry to hear this mate, is never nice to lose cash and something you're waiting for, even more so to the gov.

ORIGINAL: mjguy Yes but they are aware of the rules so they should warn their customers. How many more people will get ripped off? They seem quite happy to stay quiet on the issue and take peoples money. My mate said he was going to set up a supplement company in the USA and ship empty cardboard boxes to Uk punters with a fake notice in from customs. He gets to keep your money, and doesn't even need to send any products. He said it will be the highest profit making supplement company in the world.
