Are these supirior to DB variants?.

There's an usunual looking cable/chinning station thing where i train and a lad i was training with couple of weeks ago put me onto using it.

Are they better or as much of a muchness?

There's not much in it mate.
Cables are great as they give a uniform resistance, where as DB's get heavier at the top.

I do both personally.
DB both arms at the same time with aggresion.
Cavles one arm at a time stricter.

yeah both the same relly, do same as john.

we got a shoulder lateral machine at my gym, it really good, recomend using it, and doing dumbells every so often

Agree with Beefy Col.

My preferance would be a decent shoulder lateral machine. If not available, dumbbells and cables are fine.

It's such a small muscle group you are targetting (lateral delt), I doubt it really makes much difference really. Just depends on your personal preferance.

I like the lateral raise machine because it allows you to go pretty heavy, gives a pretty constant tention throughout the range of motion and puts less stress on the wrists. Great for drop sets and what not too.
