I am reading "Ghost Rider - Travels on the Healing Road" by Neil Peart, drummer with the Rock Band Rush. In the late 90's,Neil's daughter was killed in a car crash, and ten months later his wife died of cancer.Unable to deal with these tragedy's he set off on a motorcyle journey from Canada down to South America and back.Covering 55,000 miles over a fourteen month period. This book tells the story of that journey and his emotional turmoil as he searched for a reason to keep on living. Great read and very well written.
Our greatest glory is not in ever failing, but in rising each time we fall. Confucius

Anyone got any suggestions for something she might enjoy next.(she's 9) Some fantasy I remember enjoying as a youngster of around that age were: The Dark Is Rising series by Susan Cooper, Howl's Moving Castle and the Chrestomanci series by Diana Wynne Jones, and the Earthsea series by Ursula K. Le Guin At least three of the above have had films or TV series made about them in recent years, which is probably why I remember them, but don't worry, the books are incomparably better

If you're a fan of fantasy you've got to take a look at George RR Martin's 'Of Fire and Ice' series. Fantastic stuff. Sci-fi nuts will love Peter Hamilton's 'Nights Dawn' Trilogy. Utterly Awesome.

Currently about half way through Charles Dickens's The Old Curiosity Shop. It's pretty good so far. Might start Nicholas Nickleby next

Flicking back n forth 3 books atm (odd i know). The Waste Lands (Stephen Kings Dark Tower series) Sci-fi / fantasy / western World War Z (Max brooks) Takes from the form of documentation of survivors of a Zombie plague, lots of social undertones Feel the fear and do it anyway (Susan jefferson) Amazing book about overcomming things that are holding you back
