| truffle_shuffle -> RE: Ankle Pain (Apr. 29 2008 22:09:35) | Hi mate, Get the docs but then dont take too much heed of what the GP says in terms of sporting injuries. I injured my ankle on the treadmill in the EXACT same spot and it took the NHS 6 months to get to the bottom of it! First thing youll GP will say is its a sprain or strain most likely, rest, ice, anti inflmatories, elevation when possible which is fair cop but if it doesnt go away keep going back to him. It took 2 x-rays, 10 sessions of physio and also £100 worth of private chiropractor sessions and they all got it wrong in their different diagnosis. It was only after seeing a consultant and having an MRI that he was led to believe it was a cyst that had burst under pressure, another 6 months later (3 weeks ago) Ive had a cyst removal from the mallelalos and a bone graft to fill it. Still in the recovery phase so wont know yet if this has fixed it. For you though firts port of call is GP if after another 7 days its still as bad go back to him and pester, request an x-ray, my advice is dont always believe your GPs advice they are not experts in this field as my case proved! |
